CT is overreacting to the news that @megaeth is attempting to raise $30M with an NFT collection.

It’s a Layer 2 selling 10,000 NFTs at 1 ETH each which will grant a 5% airdrop of the MegaETH token supply.

They are aiming to be the first real-time blockchain, with Vitalik Buterin as an investor.

NFTs are soulbound, which you cannot trade, so this is essentially a pre-sale at around 500M FDV.

The top ten Layer 2 chains have an average FDV of 2.7B, while the top 10 to 20 chains have an average FDV of 325M.

For whales it looks like a no-brainer:

Bear case: 250M FDV token (-50%)
Bull case: 2.5B+ FDV token (+400%)

Pros:
1. Highly curated network
2. Soulbound NFTs can be easily targeted for airdrops
3. NFTs will have multiple levels, the higher the level, the higher the reward (based on activity)

Cons:
1. Cost opportunity to lock 3k it's high for the avg CT user
2. If your wallet is hacked, you lose access
3. The airdrop will likely be vested

Conclusion:

The average retailer is not the target of this sale, it is more of a seed/VC sale which makes it even more appealing in terms of the community.

The value proposition is unique, the style is cool, the team is stacked, and they have already raised from big backers so they are comfortable.

At the moment if I had WL I would mint.

Great time to expand your network, and upside seems more likely than downside.
