Designing in Figma vs Claude now feels like what it used to feel like designing in Photoshop when Figma first came out. $FIG better step up their game fast if they don't want to meet the same fate as all the other irrelevant design tools out there.
@iamshackelford Point being, passport stamps & exotic locales don't matter to them (the only thing my now 10 yr old remembers about Maui is the hotel & french toast), it's the experience & time together that does, whether that's Spain or Spanish Fork, UT.
PS - nice Main Street Park City pic ;)
@iamshackelford Agree w/ the sentiment. I will say this. When my daughter was 4, she ended up visiting beaches in Maui, Malibu, & New England. Later, we were at our local lake which has no beach, just mud next to the water. When asked which was her favorite, she replied "I think this one."
One of the selling points of the epic pass strategy, was to insure pass revenue during bad winters. It's now been proven a failure as VR has grown into a headless monster that can't manage the CX across it's portfolio, whether a "marquee destinations" or a mom & pop hill.
Vail Resorts ($MTN) likely to open tomorrow down to where if you invested 10 years ago youโd have done as well putting your money in a hole. Itโs time for a change to become more asset-light, sell off resorts, and allow character and differentiation to return to skiing.
@WasatchSnow Real talk - is there any chance of us having anything besides a dismal season at this point... or are we locked into a warm/dry pattern until spring?
To this day, Pit Viper's Unrelated Product section is one of my favorite examples of injecting brand voice and tiny moments of joy into the customer experience that has zero measurable benefit in terms of CRO.
Asked AI to redraw this illustration (original is mine) as a thick-lined vector style icon and this was the output. I think our jobs are safe for a bit longer...
Today I bought @themadebyjames Brand Design Course for a quick shot of inspiration while I set out to redefine what my career as a designer looks like over these next 10+ years.
I'm going to do my best to show my work and learn in public - hope to see ya'll along the way!
Turned 40 this year. Last summer picked up a surf skate, got hooked. Started snowboarding (after being a lifelong diehard skier). Had over 80 days on the mountain and a few incredible pow days on the board.
Wife says I'm going through a midlife crisis.
Time has become very finite.
There is now deadline to achievements & experiences. While I've always had steady "jobs" which havecrated opportunities, I've never pursued the work that motivates me, instead opting for the cush gig.
Time to change that...
