A huge thank you to my co-authors (@BalesLab, @AllisonRLau, @loganesav) and all the other lab members who helped with this project.
This project was also supported by funding from the @LoveConsortium (thank you to all the people there who were interested in this project!).
🚨Paper Alert!🚨
Does compatibility matter for pair bonding?
We found that titi monkeys paired together based on initial compatibility (determined via a "speed-dating" test) had increased post-pairing affiliation (relative to age-matched controls).

If you are interested in using this speed-dating method in your own lab or with the subjects you work with, feel free to get in touch. I'd love to chat!
So excited for my @LoveConsortium project to come out in PNAS today! We found that first impressions of compatibility and popularity predicted later dating and romantic interest (across 3 speed-dating studies, n > 550).

I’m personally proud to have included a sample of men-who-date-men in the study. LGBTQ people are underrepresented in social science, and we still have more steps to take to increase the diversity of our samples.
Are you a current or recently graduated student interested in ASP? The student committee will be available to answer your questions in Zoom “office hours” May 2nd and 3rd.
Today, someone on the bus wasn’t wearing a mask over their nose. When the bus driver noticed they stopped the bus (at a stop), walked back, and asked the passenger to put their mask on properly. Thank you @ASUCDUnitrans for keeping us safe! @ucdavis
Really happy to hear that @ASPvoice will offer virtual hybrid conference options for #ASP2022, this is a great step towards increasing accessibility. Thank you to all who are working on making this happen.
@MDeBoltC I’m just learning now that there even is a formal “registration” tab 🙃 But I agree with the other comments here that it (hopefully) is all the same
Had a great time with our first @ASPvoice student committee meeting of the year. I love being part of this group. Stay tuned for some great events this year (virtually and at the annual conference!).
It's not too late to join our committee if you want to be involved. :)
We are hiring! Please RT and share with anyone interested in joining the Bales Lab as a junior specialist in our #titimonkey lab😀
