Research is obviously important but something I grapple with when reporting on mental health is the investment in research over connecting people to interventions. Yes, research. But data seems to say our best hope for treating mental illnesses is addressing social determinants.

Like humans, flies require sleep to consolidate memory. HOWEVER, depending on the reason for sleep deprivation (i.e. starvation) the brain adapts to consolidate memories even during deprived states.
