Was a very grateful for the opportunity to (come in late and) help these authors get this important message out about the military use of Penthrox. Thanks to @AlexJKumar and the team.
Tomorrow we're starting our @London_Trauma System oversight reviews of each of the Major Trauma Centres and Networks in our supraregional system.
The oversight reviews are an integral part of our system governance and have led to systematic structural improvements at all of our MTCs & networks: Securing on-site specialist services, dedicated major trauma wards, workforce expansion, integrated acute rehab services & many more.
This is our third round of reviews since 2019, which we established in the absence of the national peer review system (hopefully soon to be re-established!). Oversight reviews are not the same thing though. These are supportive & collaborative reviews conducted by other members of the London Trauma System.
We look at infrastructure, activity, processes and workforce. We ask for specified audits each year but also want to hear about internal audits that have been conducted.
We also want to hear about areas of innovation, excellence and general good practice that can be shared across the four networks. This year I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the impact of our new Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation units and Major Trauma Psychology services.
MTCs & MTNs are not pass/failed but are rated along CQC lines: Outstanding/Good/Satisfactory/Requires Improvement etc. Specific areas of development are highlighted alongside areas of excellence.
Since 2019 we've moved from issues at all sites to Good or Outstanding across the board. Hoping to see further progress this year!
