A recent critique of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission evinces decline in Protestant institutions, which is bad news for America. @TheIRD https://t.co/j3QQ7Nr1Ez
I need the Venn diagram for current Swifties and evangelical kids who grew up in a Left Behind household. I just watched a Taylor Swift fan analyze dates and signs for when Reputation (TV) is going to be announced (next Monday apparently). It would have made Tim Lahaye proud.
This is where the church can step in with a message that recognizes the gift of maleness and femaleness, without pitting them against one another. Over attention to difference is a problem (we are more alike than different), but we can not buy the lie that we are interchangeable.
If the goal is promoting the common good, prioritizing the dignity of every human life, and providing a safety net for the vulnerable, then the letter signed by these legislators does none of those things.
The common good is not advanced by the death of the innocent. The dignity of human beings is not prioritized when a class of people is treated as disposable. And there is no safety net when the voiceless are discarded for mere convenience.
An earlier generation of Catholics advocates recognized that protection of the poor and vulnerable also meant opposing abortion. Unlike the legislators who signed this letter, they did not pit economic security and social justice against the life of the unborn.

Do I have a stack of books that is a mile high I’ve been putting off because of classwork? Of course. Did this one just make it to the top of the list? Definitely.
Publication day! “I don’t know a scholar more able than Thomas Kidd to bring breadth, depth, and moral clarity to a treatment of a figure as significant and complicated as Thomas Jefferson." @KSPrior@yalepress https://t.co/S2B8QVR93k
Grateful to serve with an organization like @ERLC that is working toward a day when abortion is both illegal and unthinkable and every person’s dignity is recognized by law and culture.
The @ERLC is hosting a Dobbs virtual prayer gathering today at 2:00 EST, and we invite Southern Baptists to join us in praying that the Court majority will hold firm for life.
We'll be joined by @EdLitton, @AdamGreenway@dhmccain and others
See you soon!

The scandal used to be that there was no evangelical mind. The current terror is an evangelical mind which forgets that what makes it evangelical is a “heart strangely warmed.” A mind without compassion is as terrifying as anything from the far left and right.
I have noticed a trend on social media is to point out the failures and ineffectiveness of winsome Christianity, often coming from Christians who I've never seen seeking to be winsome or even rarely kind.
But they have no problem pronouncing woes and judgment to those who live and interact in left of center and far left spaces, and have deep friendships and relationships outside of Christianity, all while maintaining their witness and faithfulness.
