Thr conservative Christians who are still standing with Samuel Sey are doing so because they believe he is a good man, a Christian man, a family man, even a fellow conservative, certainly not a criminal.

For whatever reason they can't make the leap between their friends and the hundreds of thousands of people who are just like him. They can't see that these are also good people who made decisions about jobs, family, safety, and just didn't fill out the right paperwork.

They can't imagine that these other people are also good.

When I was in graduate school, I met a couple who stressed out at the possibility that immigration wanted to deport the wife. She came here on a student visa, fell in love and now, was trying to stay here legally with her husband. There was no crime but according to them, they were being treated with suspicion and found the whole ordeal stressful and scary.

I have so many things to say, and they really range in emotions and message. But, I’ll try to be an actual good orthodox Christian here and will say this - I will pray for Samuel and his family’s safety and well being and I will pray that he, and his friends, will now see the errors of their messages from days past.
