Unfortunately, this is true. Ireland is not doing enough to halt the genocide of our fellow humans in Palestine. Ireland (ie our government which includes @dfatirl , @Dept_Transport, @MichealMartinTD, @EamonRyan, @SimonHarrisTD, @IrishMissionUN ) must stop wringing its hands and take action. Here are a few concrete actions Ireland could take: 1. Close Shannon Airport to foreign military aircraft. 2. Sanction (via @procurement_ie) all Israeli companies, and also issue arrest warrants for genocidal members of the @Israel government (under article 1 of the Genocide Convention) 3. Withdraw visa free status for all Israeli passport holders 4. Open our borders to all Palestinian refugees as we did for Ukrainians. And Irish companies and citizens can take action too by supporting the @BDSmovement and divesting from these companies at the very least:
Say hello to your Green Team in the Oireachtas!
Today, Malcolm Noonan has been elected to Seanad Éireann on the Agricultural Panel, topping the poll and being elected on the first count, no less!
Together, we will work to bring strong green representation to the Oireachtas 🌿
@aliceeire Well done Alice-Mary. Congratulations on your election. Maybe you’d consider running for President later this year. I reckon you would be great and continue the wonderful work your father has been doing.
With less than 24 hours left, I still maintain hope that President Biden will use his pardon power to nullify Chevron’s illegal contempt case against me. Thanks to @RepMcGovern and the other 33 members of Congress who urged @POTUS to pardon me. 🙏⤵️
Israelis set fire to a Palestinian family home and their two vehicles whilst attacking the village of Sinjil, in the north of Ramallah, central Palestine
BREAKING:
This is not Gaza.
This is the town of Sinjil in the occupied West Bank.
Armed Israeli settlers are on a rampage burning Palestinian houses and vehicles, and terrorizing Palestinian families in the middle of the night.
This is terrorism.
Your adoption, Tanaiste, of the IHRA definition on antisemitism (which conflates dislike of Jews with dislike of @Israel government actions) should be rescinded and if you feel it necessary replaced by the https://t.co/e9nM2LXgkf definition which is ‘Antisemitism is discrimination, prejudice, hostility or violence against Jews as Jews (or Jewish institutions as Jewish).’ ie it does not mention Israel unlike the IHRA definition. If you do not it will be difficult to pass the Overseas Territories Bill (#OTB). I hope your @fiannafailparty members (who want the #holocaust of #Palestinians to cease) discuss this today.
To understand this issue one must realise that dislike of Jews in any way just because they are Jews, is antisemitic (and racist), however dislike of the Israeli government and being horrified and disgusted by their genocide of Palestinians is not antisemitism, it is what a normal human being should feel. Our @PresidentIRL is expressing what most of us feel about @Israel and their execution of the #Palestinian holocaust. He is, like most of us Irish are also, not being antisemitic by doing so.
This is what Israel 🇮🇱, the US 🇺🇸 and the UK 🇬🇧 have done to Gaza 🇵🇸
Biden 🇺🇸 and Starmer 🇬🇧 partnered with Netanyahu 🇮🇱
All should answer in The Hague.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸 today.
Oligarchy is the enemy of democracy.
As Louis Brandeis said, “America has a choice. We can either have great wealth in the hands of a few, or we can have a democracy. But we cannot have both.”

@LocalGovIre Well done @greenparty_ie for these measures - vacant and derelict property grants and vacant homes officers in every local authority. Bringing vacant and derelict homes back into use. #GreensDeliver solutions for #DerelictIreland .
On this day in 1960, Congolese independence leader, anti-colonial and Pan-Africanist icon Patrice Lumumba is assassinated after a coup that was backed by the US and Belgium. US President Eisenhower ordered the CIA to ‘eliminate’ Patrice Lumumba.
For daring to oppose Belgian colonialism and US domination of Congo’s natural resources, Lumumba was executed by firing squad on the 17th of January 1961 after being tortured. Before being killed, the colonial conspirators tried to force Lumumba to eat the paper on which his Independence Day speech was written on. After being executed, his body was dissolved in acid.
The fact that tech billionaires will be by Donald Trump's side during his inauguration not only shows that oligarchy is taking a root, but also signals that we are about to enter an era of unprecedented corruption.
