Wow, I'm now playing with the recently open-sourced version of Claude Code v2.1.88 locally, renamed it to Alex Code... and finally get to implement the features I was wishing for.

Really thankful to Anthropic for finally embracing the open source community after they dropped the ball on handling the viral OpenClaw moment. Digital karma?

I would prefer not to do this, but without it, this could happen again, even with the new security measures I added.

Anyway, lesson learned.

Still a very positive experience. But in case you were wondering, this is why services require you to add a credit card even if they don't plan to charge it.

I launched https://t.co/0CoJJzy0fl. It's a computer (clawputer) for your OpenClaw agent. I believe all agents will need their own computers, and it's more efficient to host them in the cloud.

I didn't know if it would work.

OpenClaw was becoming popular, but I wasn't sure if people would use this. To build it, I needed to rent servers and do a bunch of work.

It's been weeks of positive news, and momentum was building.

Then I went out for dinner on a Sunday and saw my inbox fill up with new users.

Clawbite was under attack.

Then a server crash.

My naive approach to no-credit-card signup and trials had failed. And in retrospect, it was super obvious.

Now a credit card is required to sign up, even for the short free trial.

It won't get charged if the user does not want to proceed.
