@SDPInstitute Thank you all so much for participating and sharing about your lived experiences! I'm leaving our conversation feeling inspired, motivated, and SO proud to be #firstgen
A7: I would encourage first-generation students to continue seeking professional resources and connecting with other first-gen folks. Build community wherever you go and remember who you are and what you stand for. #SDPIChat
Q7: What advice or resources would you offer to first-generation college students looking to continue their education and/or join the workplace? #SDPIChat
A6: I have seen some college institutions and employers connect with community based organizations to recruit first-generation students. I also believe institutions need to put the same effort in retaining students as they do recruiting students. #SDPIChat
A3: A big challenge I faced when I first started graduate school at SDSU was providing financial support to my parents who are both unemployed. I think it's important to understand that first-gen students experience challenges beyond undergrad. #SDPIChat
A1: My first-generation identity has allowed me to build community with other students, faculty, and staff who identify as first-generation. True power in connecting and relating.
Join us in our upcoming #SDPIChat, "Thriving Post-Graduation as a First-Generation College Student!" 🎓🙌
Hosted by our JSSS interns @AriadnaCManzo & @alexreyes661, we will discuss how #FirstGen students navigate their experiences post-grad! ✊✊
