@SolarpunkSEED@EMostaque Correct. We must have the outputs of goods/services be higher than the rate in which we print money. This will help maintain the quality of the things people purchase by creating more not creating the same with less. AI and robotics help massively with this.
@misraetel I mean this exactly what happened with machines and the luddites… the doomers really aren’t any different. I do get their point of view though.
@SolarpunkSEED@EMostaque Universal Basic Dividend seems completely reasonable. I’m sure once the frontier labs approach ~$1T> in annual revenue we’ll start to actually see that conversation more. I’ve said this before but the entire ai ecosystem has had close to $20T invested into it. We will need UB(X).
@DaveBlundin@elonmusk Really need generalized robotics across the world for this to be truly realized. “Triple multiplicative recursive exponential.” -Elon
Taxing billionaires is fucking stupid. What we ‘should’ be taxing are AI companies.
As more and more money gets spent on superintelligence, the need for employees trends towards zero. This means that, in order to protect those affected, we need a social safety net. This is where Universal High Income, or UHI, comes into play.
As the frontier labs approach trillions of dollars in revenue, that becomes a massive tax base we can draw from, not because we want to, but because we have to in order to support displaced workers. The same goes for general robotics once we have billions of robots operating close to the marginal cost of energy.
We should have robots building robots and automating the entire supply chain. To some extent, this is already happening. Amazon already uses an army of robots to automate its supply chain. It’s why they’re worth so much and generate such massive revenue. Apple is no different.
Furthermore, there is a massive shortage of tradespeople, and we do not have enough young people going into the trades to replace those who are retiring. Couple that with declining birth rates, and you have a double-exponential decline towards population collapse. Robotics solves this.
Final point: in the interim, we will need a massive amount of energy to support this, on the scale of tens of terawatts and eventually petawatts. We need to take a page out of China’s playbook and develop a metric fuck ton of solar panel farms and battery packs. Thanks, Tesla!
Anyways, all this is to say that if we automate energy, AI, and robotics, we will have massive, sustainable abundance for all humans.
Capitalism must be utilized to fund the singularity.
@mark_k Yes. We need to survive and stay in good health indefinitely. Why someone would choose otherwise is personal to them. But for everyone else, E/acc.
@imaginationxyz Gonna have to agree with Alex here. Robot intelligence is being ‘solved’ as we speak. Manufacturing is a money solves problem which there is PLENTY of to go around in American capital markets. Billions of robots are well on their way it’s just the early chapters unfolding.
Massive deflationary pressure on goods and services will come from robots and AI performing tasks well above human parity. And because AI companies will generate such vast revenues, we can tax them to fund a UHI program worldwide. As long as the output of goods and services grows faster than the rate at which we print money, deflation, combined with government-issued checks, will allow people to survive the supersonic tsunami.
