Many people like their system in one language and some apps in another. Sure, you can build an in-app picker, but did you know iOS and Android both support per-app language settings? With Expo 54, it’s even easier 🌈

A thread 🧵
As a French user who keeps my phone in English, I sometimes want to use certain apps in French
Both iOS and Android let users override the language per app, directly from system settings, but only a few apps make use of it
Here’s how it looks in an Expo app 👇
To help more apps support this, I published an Expo config plugin: https://t.co/pjoIjHTv5k ✨
It lets you easily declare supported languages in your app config, so users can choose their preferred language from system settings on both iOS and Android
📢 Big update for teams using React Native! The latest Rive release version 9.3.0 includes:
👉 Data Binding support
👉 A new useRive( ) hook
👉 A source prop for simpler .riv file loading
Plus, lots of fixes for a more stable experience.
@plrdev@expo Definitely! If you're interested in how this use of Fingerprint can be implemented in a GitHub Action, check out this example: https://t.co/zG1eX3iMJq
@monkey_K1n9@DanYelkien@TheFireAndCode@margelo_io Yes. TBH, on actively maintained libraries, you get a config plugin from the maintainers most of the time. And when it's not the case, writing a local custom plugin is quite easy and worth the shot considering the benefit https://t.co/hmJxIppOb8
@monkey_K1n9@DanYelkien@TheFireAndCode@margelo_io I strongly disagree. The whole point of prebuild is CNG, the goal is to reduce maintainance on native files. By editing them, you're then forced to version and maintain them and running prebuild again will override your code making it pointless
Development Builds are a game-changer! Share them with your team and pair them with EAS Updates to let them QA an isolated feature just by scanning a QR code! 🤩
📱What exactly is a development build?
In this short clip from @betomoedano's "Expo Go vs development builds" video he defines development builds and explains how they are different from Expo Go.
