I had a great therapist tell me years ago she was a big Halloween fan growing up and Dr. Loomis was her inspiration to pursue psychology.

She said slashers are “prescriptive” for me & people who struggle with anxiety because they’re predictable & formulaic (in a good way) and final girls/boys become aspirational characters to them for that reason.

The most financially successful horror movies of the last 60 years were released during periods of global tension, societal fear & uncertainty.
