Platner needs to drop out ASAP - these are awful, credible allegations.
Said on the pod after the (also credible) June NYT story that his biggest problem going forward would be credibility. It's now abundantly clear that he just hasn't been honest about his past and can't be trusted as a candidate for office.
Saving grace is that the party can find a replacement by the 27th as long as he drops by the 13th, which I very much assume he will.
A woman says that Graham Platner, the Democratic nominee for US Senate in Maine, entered her home without permission and raped her while he was heavily intoxicated five years ago when they were in a casual dating relationship – an allegation that Platner denies.
"These allegations are very serious and Graham vigorously denies them," Platner's campaign said. See the full story on @TheLeadCNN with @jaketapper. https://t.co/DNFcmBJNte
Last week Donald Trump watched the rule of law in action—and it was a humiliating blow to his agenda. No matter how hard he tries, he is still subject to the most powerful document in our history: the U.S. Constitution.
The 14th Amendment protects birthright citizenship, period.
Trump’s contempt for the law won’t end here, but neither will our defense of it. California will see him in court and protect our Constitution whenever he tries to break it.
Hasan Piker on @POLITICO Platner story just now on stream:
"That is curtains. That is the trifecta. Okay, that is the trifecta of a reliable allegation. It’s holy shit...I believe this, this accusation. I believe this allegation."
This is an immensely damaging allegation from a credible source. The Platner campaign insisted that nothing new was coming, and that was obviously not the truth. Just devastating.
Democrats should stop grading on a Republican curve.
Donald Trump and Ken Paxton are not the bar.
We should demand better from our own candidates.
Platner needs to drop out by July 13.
It’s time for Mr. Platner to step aside and be replaced by July 13th. Platner needs time to heal, focus on his family and well-being. Enough. Enough. Read for yourself: Woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her - POLITICO https://t.co/gm9d0CDAn2
A woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her.
“I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person," she said of the Maine Dem, who has faced a string of scandals over past offensive online comments and accusations of mistreating women.
Platner responded: "These allegations are troubling, serious, and false. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue."

As Californians head outdoors over 4th of July Weekend, remember that rivers, lakes & beaches can still have dangerously cold and fast-moving water, even on hot days.
Wear a life jacket, stay aware of changing conditions, & keep an eye on children and loved ones near the water.
