@Bdubs1776 That is in extremely bad taste. Dismissing and criticising the work of a fellow creator, only to shill his own, in the replies of that creator? What is even going on here.
@Dungeoneerhere You're welcome, I also tend to be too accomodating as a DM... It's amazing how densely packed with relevant gaming advice that book is.
@CaptainFwifo @RexfelisCatlord @Blackmoor_Film@arcanelibrary@Bdubs1776 Before Jeffro's 2020 blog posts, there was literally zero documentation of
a) anyone taking this rule seriously,
b) actually using it in a long campaign,
c) explaining how it fundamentally transforms the game for the better.
Those who knew and didn't tell, acted wrongly.
@RumpDM I think in this specific case, this means that you don't track game time with game rules. Rather, the actual time it took to resolve hex clearing will be the game time it took to do so. So forget about movement rates; if hex clearing took 3 weeks irl then it took 3 weeks in game.
@BrianRenninger6 I think the rules imply that you always use the "liege" data -- if Party B reacts to Party A, and you are rolling "as if B was a henchman of A", then it follows that A is treated as if it was the liege of B for the purpose of reaction modifiers.
@BlkSamBell@AlchemicRaker I'm just baffled at how anyone would consent to such a lopsided "partnership". Like did he sign something he shouldn't have? What's going on here!
@Bdubs1776@cirsova "The Serpent gives us aid not for our sakes, but as part of its own design. We have become no more than tools by which Caer Dhu gains its ends"

@RumpDM Method III is fun. I always come back to this page which shows the exact probabilities: https://t.co/anRuTGepqR. If you click "At Most" you can kinda see how to turn the six 3d6 rolls into a single d100 roll.
@AlchemicRaker @redrevenan22323 @WorldofFirmatus I was happy when I realized that Thief skills can be used in a "zoomed out" way between sessions, just like combat can be scaled. One Pick Pockets roll now tells you whether a downtime heist operation was successful or not.
@wjsilver@Gingerblast In that case the potential reward is far too delayed. With slot machines, loot boxes or even refreshing your email, you get your result instantly after "pushing the button".
@wjsilver@Gingerblast Wait, that wasn't obvious?
For an easy test to spot gambling logic, ask whether you would love it the same if you knew the contents of the pack before opening.
@saundby@AlchemicRaker AD&D 1e discusses this at length, though. What more can you do than painstakingly writing it down? Then people do otherwise anyway because apparently the rules don't matter...
@pearsesd@DunderMoose@Bdubs1776@JohnsonJeffro Right, this confirms what people are saying that the real money is in wilderness lairs. But I would like dungeoneering to be viable on its own! (Multiple modes of play are good, etc.)
