Proof of Play exists because of you, our earliest and strongest supporters. We’re determined to make sure you’re at the heart of this journey going forward.

While our approach is shifting, we’ve always taken a long-term view and are committed to our mission of onboarding millions of people to web3 through fun, innovative products.

First, we hear you loud and clear, we fumbled the Founder's Pirate sunset. We miscalculated how to maintain long-term alignment with Proof of Play and the attachment holders had to their Founder’s Pirates. We are going to make some changes to bridge the divide.

Regarding the distribution, there are constraints on the amount of $PIRATE that could be given out. The community bucket for Pirate Nation only had ~90.7M tokens in it. That amount needed to be split between several groups (Founder’s NFTs, plunder event rewards, staking incentives, and future rewards). Founder’s NFTs were allocated 20M of the 90.7M which is around 22% of the total amount available.

Despite the limitations, we believe there are ways to soften the sunset process. Here's the plan:

Plunder Event
🔹Increase plunder allocation from 1M to 5M $PIRATE token (5X the amount). Airdropped to those who plundered 1 million or more certificates on the leaderboard so it’s concentrated to the most active players. 1,247 players qualified for these rewards.
🔹These top players will also be eligible to receive Proof of Play Arcade credits and Shiba Story Go Gems. Redemption details to be shared separately.
🔹All plunder holders (not just those that received $PIRATE token) will receive Proof of Play Points to recognize their history within Pirate Nation.

Founder's Pirates (FP)
🔹An additional claim pool of 10M $PIRATE will be made available to all FP holders based on a snapshot at time of burn announcement. Will utilize the same rarity algorithm as the burn claim to determine amount per FP.
🔹Granting Proof of Play Points (quantity of FPs and rarity taken into account) to further align holders with future efforts.
🔹We’re planning on using the past 3 months of NFT royalties on strategic $PIRATE buybacks.
🔹For FP holders that asked for new game benefits, we will also be making Arcade Credits and Shiba Story Go Gems available to FP holders. Redemption details to be shared separately.
🔹Final $PIRATE claim, PoP points and new game benefits will be granted based on a snapshot at the time FP burn was announced to ensure all previous holders benefit.
🔹New Discord role for anyone that burned a FP so that they retain community status going forward.
🔹The collection remains a purely collectible, tradeable PFP.

Additional Key Points
🔹Proof of Play has no plans to launch another token; the only ticker is $PIRATE.
🔹Even though unlocks started in July, neither team nor investors have sold (or hedged) $PIRATE or any of the treasury NFTs so far.
🔹We’re considering open market purchases of $PIRATE to restock our supplies.
🔹Proof of Play Arcade has already generated $500K of revenue in the last 2 months and is growing. We've also recently added $PIRATE sinks to the Arcade..
🔹We still view Proof of Play points as being aligned with our future. However, we are evaluating several options and do not have concrete plans yet to share regarding how points will play out.
🔹We will make these rewards available as soon as possible and will have separate announcements once they go live.

As we end this chapter, it’s important that we set out a clear vision for where Proof of Play is going and why we’re fired-up about the future:

🔹Our veteran team has been building for years together, knows how to rapidly ship and live-operate products, has continually overcome impossible technical hurdles, and has deep conviction in what we have cooking.
🔹Our new mobile game is ambitious, looks great, has early testers excited, and is in a category of games that do $100M+/yr in revenue. It will also be the first mobile game in our portfolio to incorporate our new invisible and frictionless marketplace service.
🔹We have a superpower with our marketplace API, it allows us to add DeFi revenue streams to any mobile game or app via trading fees and stablecoin yield. We support settlement on any chain and are already launched on our first chain, BASE, and are expanding to others.
🔹There are multiple ways to generate protocol revenue tied to usage of these products -- fees on marketplace volume, yield from stablecoins, onramp/offramp fees, additional DeFi services (such as swapping) within the in-app wallets we create.
🔹In addition to B2C revenue from our first-party games, we earn B2B revenue streams from developer partners that utilize our payment frameworks.
🔹Recent developments in stablecoin legislation and changes in mobile app store rules enable new types of commerce in mobile apps that were simply not possible before. These are tailwinds for our strategy.
🔹Our new products have no strategic baggage – fully onchain games were always a risk, we gave it a go, it didn’t work out so we pivoted. We know our new products have a clear market and can make money because we’re targeting the $94B+ mobile gaming market made up of 2 billion players. Simply put: instead of trying to bring games to web3, we’re bringing web3 to games.

Ultimately, we remain firm believers in the potential of the decentralized internet. Our goal to accelerate the adoption of web3 by onboarding millions of people remains unchanged.

We plan on doing that through a suite of practical stablecoin-based features (P2P marketplaces, onchain settled payments, and stablecoin-generated yield) that can be adopted by any application, gaming or otherwise – starting with our own products.

For third-party developers the pitch is simple: We make it easy for you to integrate cheap stablecoin-based payments and marketplaces in your products. This enables new revenue streams while lowering the fees on your existing transactions through invisible blockchain rails, no prior crypto knowledge required.

We see these advantages as disruptive to multiple industries. Once one company adopts it, all their peers will need to as well to remain competitive on pricing and monetization.

While it is important to note we won't reach our full potential overnight – the plan is bold and we’re builders at heart that are locked-in for the long-term to win. We’ve never been more bullish on our future and invite you to ride along with us for this new chapter – the ticker is $PIRATE.
