I was discussing this with my friend last night that,
podcasting is not the right career choice to make until you have build something tangible of your own in atleast one domain.
Lex Friedman is a scientist first before a podcaster
Joe Rogan has been through multiple disciples before becoming a podcaster.
Nikhil Kamath has build a billion dollar podcast before starting a podcast.
All of these people have got into the circle of access.
The intellectual depth of a conversation comes from amalgamation of ideas from different fields.
So when you have experienced something fundamental in one field you can connect the dots in other fields as well.
Otherwise if your game in podcasting is audience based,
- The questions you ask would be surface level.
- You would always try to get the next best person who can get you more views and metrics.
- You would be running after brand value and not the core value that the person can offer.
In India playing the audience game pays really well though because there's a huge intellectual void.
But the audience game isn't sustainable in the long run.
Because you can lie on 1st page, 2nd page... But not the 100th page.
So build something of your own first, become valuable to be listened to.

Yesterday I spent 6+ hours searching & making a collage of posters used by TV anchor @AmanChopra_@AMISHDEVGAN in 2022. I know it's a loooooong thread. Do give it a read & understand the propaganda being played in News rooms. I usually don't ask people to RT, But do share this.
@abhishekb179@RVCJ_FB Cricket needs discussion its not easy. Also we would have to look it from a different perspective. Kohli had a chance to be there but then that gap will be a talking point now.
