You can never criticize @ProfIsaPantami again after listening to this video. Honestly, a lot of us judged him too quickly because of that one clip flying around without seeing the bigger picture.
This video really changes the narrative. May Allah make this political struggle beneficial to the people of Gombe and allow the truth to prevail.

My brother Jaafar, I respectfully disagree with your position on Professor Pantami and the conclusion you draw about his political ambition. The idea that one must abandon preaching in order to be taken seriously in politics sets up a false choice. Moral leadership and political leadership are not opposites. In fact, the absence of moral leadership is one of the main reasons our politics has deteriorated to this level.
Professor Isa Ali Pantami is not confused about who he is, nor is he trying to live two incompatible lives. What you describe as split focus is actually consistency. His academic career, public service, and reform efforts all flow from the same values. That is not role conflict. That is a coherent life path. Just like our able, competent and steadfast Governor Zulum who is a combo of a professor and mallam!!
You referenced a Hausa proverb about running and scratching at the same time, but the deeper crisis in Nigerian politics is not divided attention. It is the normalization of corruption, incompetence, and moral compromise. When we argue that politics must involve dirt, lies, theft, and thuggery, we are not being realistic. We are excusing failure and defending a broken system.
Your description of Nigerian politics as a sewer where no one can emerge clean may reflect what has gone wrong, but it does not define what must remain so. If we insist that only those willing to steal, rig, lie, and compromise their values can govern, then we leave the country permanently in the hands of the worst among us.
Brother Jaafar, you calling Pantami sadakar yalla misses the point. He is neither desperate nor confused. He is a nationally and internationally respected intellectual with experience in governance under intense scrutiny. Entering politics does not require him to discard his moral compass. It requires him to apply it in a space that badly needs it.
The suggestion that clerical authority depends on moral clarity while politics survives on empty rhetoric reflects a deeply cynical view of public life. Politics does not have to be empty, and faith does not have to be silent. Societies move forward when people with strong ethical grounding refuse to leave governance to opportunists and career manipulators.
Pantami does not need to become a different person to aspire to govern Gombe State. He needs to remain who he is. A disciplined thinker. A reform minded leader. Someone whose credibility comes from consistency rather than convenience. Gombe does not need another politician fluent in patronage. It needs leadership grounded in ideas, accountability, and service.
The real danger is not that Pantami brings moral conviction into politics. The real danger is that politics continues without people like him. That is why his ambition is not only legitimate. It is necessary. May God inspire more people like him to challenge the status quo and contest for political office.
