لم أدرك وأنا صغير، عندما طلبت منا المدرسة صورة 6×9 للتقدم لامتحان الشهادة الابتدائية، أن لعنة الأرقام ستسكن داخلي لسنوات طويلة. فمنذ سمعت هذه الأرقام التي لم تحمل بالنسبة لي آنذاك أي منطق واضح، وأنا أحاول فهم العلاقة بين الرقم والصورة، بين القياس والأصل، وربما بين الحساب والحياة نفسها.

واليوم، وأنا أفكر في أحوال منطقتنا العربية، لا يتراءى أمامي رقم 6×9، بل رقم آخر أكثر ثقلاً: 50×70. خمسون عاماً على هزيمة 1967 التي غيرت مسار العالم العربي، وسبعون عاماً على نكبة 1948 التي تفرق معها شعب في المنافي والمخيمات. وبالحساب المجرد يفترض أن يكون الناتج 3500. أما بالحساب السياسي والثقافي العربي فأخشى أن يكون الناتج أقرب إلى الصفر.

بعد خمسين عاماً من النكسة وسبعين عاماً من النكبة أسأل نفسي: كيف تمر كل هذه العقود بمآسيها وخسائرها ثم نمضي في حياتنا كأننا نسير نياماً؟ وهل حان الوقت للتوقف وإجراء جرد حساب حقيقي لما جرى، أم أننا ما زلنا نسير في الطريق نفسه، بالهزيان السياسي والثقافي ذاته الذي رافق تلك اللحظات المؤسسة في تاريخنا الحديث؟

كلما كتبت عن ضرورة المراجعة أدخلني بعض الإخوة في حارة «جلد الذات». وأصبحت العبارة نفسها كليشيهاً جاهزاً يرفع في وجه أي محاولة للتفكير. ومع الوقت وجدت نفسي أرد بكليشيه مقابل: اتهامهم بخداع الذات والعجز عن النقد الذاتي. وهكذا أصبحنا جميعاً أسرى لغة جاهزة ومواقف جاهزة، نتبادل الشعارات أكثر مما نتبادل الأفكار.

لكن المشكلة ليست في جلد الذات أو خداعها، بل في غياب المراجعة نفسها. فالنقاش العربي غالباً ما يتحول إلى منافسة في الردود الجاهزة. إذا قلت إن 1967 كانت نكسة، خرج من يصحح لك قائلاً إنها هزيمة. وإذا قلت إنها هزيمة، جاء آخر ليحدثك عن انتصار 1973. وإذا دعوت إلى التفكير اتهمك بالإحباط، وإذا تحدثت عن إنجاز اتهمك بالتطبيل. وكأن وظيفة العقل لم تعد الفهم، بل الاعتراض.

المعضلة الحقيقية أن الذكرى تحولت عندنا إلى بديل عن المراجعة. نستعيد الأحداث كل عام، نكرر العبارات نفسها، ونستحضر المشاعر نفسها، ثم نعود إلى المواقع نفسها. نتذكر كثيراً، لكننا نتعلم قليلاً. ولذلك بقيت النكبة والنكسة حاضرتين في الوجدان أكثر مما هما حاضرتان في المعرفة.

السؤال الذي يجب أن يشغلنا اليوم ليس من المسؤول، فذلك سؤال استُهلك حتى فقد معناه. السؤال الأهم هو: ماذا تعلمنا؟ وما الذي تغير في طريقة تفكيرنا وإدارة دولنا ومؤسساتنا منذ تلك اللحظات المفصلية؟

أخشى أن تكون الإجابة قاسية. فبعد كل هذه العقود ما زلنا نختلف على الأسماء أكثر مما نختلف على الأسباب، ونتمسك بالروايات أكثر مما ننتج المعرفة.

ولهذا فإن المسألة ليست أن 50 مضروبة في 70 تساوي 3500. المسألة أن خمسين عاماً من الذكرى مضروبة في سبعين عاماً من الحنين قد تساوي صفراً إذا لم تتحول إلى مراجعة ومعرفة وإصلاح.

وما أخشاه أن تكون حصيلة الحساب العربي، حتى الآن، هي:

50 × 70 = صفر.

Israeli settlers invaded the village of Umm al-Khair in the south Hebron Hills overnight, attempting to seize additional land and plant Israeli flags. @infinite_jaz (Jasper Nathaniel), an international activist and documenter who has been working with the community, reported that the invaders engaged in systematic physical assaults against residents and activists, including throwing a female activist to the ground and delivering targeted blows to the groin.
