@wesbuc@xphilosopher Thanks! Yes, good point. The effect could still go indirectly e.g. through judgements of probability, or something like that....but I feel that pragmatic encroachers might still take such a result to favor their position e.g. if they go for total pragmatic encroachment.
@xphilosopher@wesbuc good question. not sure either, but we couldn't think of another factor that would matter, in the sense that it would help to show that stakes effects are somehow uninteresting or easy to explain away.
@wesbuc@xphilosopher We actually address the question of whether our stakes effects are mediated through salience effects in one of the experiments. Looks like the mediation is only partial :)
