Here is my meme for media analysis essay #2! I chose to talk about how conservative radio hosts promote mis&disinformation on their platforms. #UWJ201 #305
@LiamKelso10 I have seen an increase of advertisements on online shopping platforms. The ads seem to be way less obvious, which is definitely annoying because it is now increasingly harder to know what is actually a good product and what is payed for to be promoted. #UWJ201 #305
@beccaspitalnik In the current state of society, I think companies being politically aware and correct, diverse, and accepting are incredibly important in gaining trust and positive feedback from the public. #UWJ201 #305
In yesterday's guest lecture, we learned about the lattice ring vs. random small-world ring as ways to spread information in networks. Which do you think is a better method to aid the spread of misinformation? #UWJ201 #305
What do you think the most effective persuasion principle is with younger teen audiences? How does naivety effect these different principles and do you think that adults are more effected by different ones? Does level of education make a difference? #UWJ201 #305
@hallebrownn I think celebrities with young fanbases connect with their audiences more because it helps them grow their platforms and likability. Also, peripheral/central routes on social media depend on the type on the type of celebrity and what they are trying to accomplish. #UWJ201 #305
@KarleaSchuelke I would disagree, because I think manipulation can be very well, if not more, thought out. Companies/people who are trying to manipulate probably have a motive or something to get done, and know they are manipulating their audience to complete their goal. #UWJ201 #305
@BensonAmbria We had a reading a few weeks ago that talked about Facebook's failure to react quickly to mis/disinformation in other countries. They run their company slowly in some aspects, and quickly in others. I think it’s based on what they care about/think effects them most. #j201 #305
On Monday, we talked about the internet access disparity. Biden’s infrastructure plan allocated $65M to bring broadband to every household in the US - do you think this will lead to a more educated society or more opportunities for filter bubbles & misinformation?

@bethshoop23 I don't think TV news will go away, but I think it will shift to different platforms in trying to cater to younger generations. With cable TV seeming to be increasingly less popular, I wonder if news will be included in streaming services in the future. #uwj201 #305
@SamiStidham With so many controversies, scandals, and polarizing opinions on both sides, it seems nearly impossible for journalists to not disagree with an event or share their opinion. Also, when other media sources go against facts/science, it feels like bias is unescapable. #j201 #305
@BensonAmbria After the BLM movement, many celebrities got cancelled for not using their platform to speak out against racism, or for supporting Trump. It does feel like many will support a dem. candidate even if they are uninformed about politics, to appeal to their followers. #j201 #305
We learned today that byproduct learning is not happening as much now as it used to. Why is it easier to be a news avoider today when there seems to be infinite news and media sources versus before the internet when there were few television/radio news channels? #j201 #305
@noa_chamberlin Especially during the pandemic and shutdowns, fake news stories with interesting headlines are more exciting for people. Also, both parties have become so polarized that they are willing to believe ridiculous claims about the other side, even if they are false. #UWJ201 #305
@bjerke_paige I think the specific instance of the insurrection was necessary to prevent further dangers, which many experts and journalists agreed with in the articles. However, I also think the amount of power held on our democracy by these platforms is definitely concerning. #UWJ201 #304
Based off of this week's articles about the deplatforming of former President Trump, what do you think is more important to our democracy: protection against possible mis/disinformation or protection of political speech? #UWJ201 #305
