Recently I was listening to an interview of Chang Chen with @matgpod guys.

I got immersed and thought of sharing a few Lessons from this Interview:

1:Long Term Creator Deals Beat One Off Campaigns

Chang pushes founders away from “one YouTube video and done.”

Her model: 6 to 9 month creator contracts with fixed fee + affiliate upside.

Because you’re buying consistency not just impressions ; repeated touchpoints compound trust and usage.

2:Co Creation > Ads

According to Chang,hard ads almost never go viral.

The best campaigns start with a clear brief, then let creators shape the story in their own voice.

And the result is amazing. content looks like their idea not a brand insertion and performs like native posts not sponsorships.

3:Kill the Hashtags and UTM Links

This is counterintuitive but powerful. Posts that scream “#ad” or show ugly tracking links tank in engagement.

Hockey Stick uses onboarding questionnaires and internal tracking but lets creator content look clean and organic on the surface.

4:Don’t Copy Competitors’ Creator Playbook

Many teams reverse engineer whatever worked for a rival and assume the same channels will work for them.
