@fehloop You might just have a harder time convincing an Aristotle scholar that we need new intellectual virtues on top of the 5 described by Aristotle but I guess that ship has sailed at least three decades ago, so
@fehloop That said: this means that it's easier to propose a "new" intellectual virtue than a moral one, because you don't need the two correlates to go with it 😉
@fehloop No intellectual virtue, according to A., is a mean between extremes. The examples I gave are just more intuitive considering how the names of the virtues were translated (We might think one could be "too prudent" but that's just pc "prudence" is not a great translation)
Cont'd
@fehloop FWIW, Aristotle draws the distinction between moral and intellectual virtues in Book I of the Nicomachean Ethics, and adds further details of that distinction in Book VI (if you ever want/need to check it out)
@fehloop Part of the reason why they're not means between extremes is that you can't have "excesses" in intellect. Say, what would be an excess of knowledge? Or wisdom? Whatever those could be (if one could conceive of them), it'd be strange to think of them as vices
We mark the passing of the legendary Pelé, known to many as the king of the "beautiful game." This image of a spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor shows the colors of Brazil.
@tejotaefe Sorte a sua 😁
Mas sinceramente não duvido que haja pessoas que achem que "latente" signifique "patente" literalmente porque creem que vem de "latir" (portanto, fazer barulho/dar na cara??). Enfim, ~HIPÓTESES.
