I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the current state of management at St. Peter’s Naalya. A school once respected for being student-centered has completely compromised its standards of care. Specifically, I am appalled by the decision to evict female candidate students from their dormitories at 3:00 AM on their day of departure, right after completing their mock exams. Forcing young girls out into the cold during the early hours of the morning is unacceptable and raises serious safety concerns.

Furthermore, this follows an ongoing issue where students were forced to sleep outside due to a heavy mosquito infestation that the school has failed to fumigate.Given the continuous increase in school fees and your stringent payment mechanisms, parents expect a safe, hygienic, and humane environment for their children.

The school must do better and urgently address these welfare failures

The Phaneroo people landed on my Tweet castigating the other lady who claimed their pastor healed an HIV/AIDS patient and now my mentions are blowing up with Bible verses.

People need to appreciate that there is a fundamental risk of tweeting such stuff. In the 90s when the HIV/AIDS scourge was ravaging the population, one of the problems Ministry of Health fought against was Pastors & traditional healers who constantly claimed they cured the disease.

Many people lost their lives because they believed they’d been cured by their pastors and therefore they went off medication. To this day, we lose people simply because they replace taking meds with prayer and fasting.

It’s very dangerous to create the impression that your pastor cured a patient because what you’re communicating to other patients is that they don’t need to take medication, they just need to locate your pastor.

Therein lies the problem.

If you’re an HIV/AIDS patient, it’s okay to have your pastor lay hands on you but please, do not under any circumstances stop taking medication.

As of now, there is no known cure for HIV/AIDS. However, the virus can be fully managed through medication, lifestyle change & discipline. Short of that, you’re at risk of the disease spreading through the body & wiping out immunity hence leading to death.

Phaneroo people & their pastor are going to undo decades of hardwork put in by many people to teach the population about how to manage HIV/AIDS.

Believe in your God, worship him, hold hands and sing Kumbaya, but please do not spread falsehoods about HIV/AIDs. It is still a dangerous disease & must be treated as such.

Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo @SpireJim has spent years using his voice and talents to hold power accountable as his contribution towards a better society for us all.

Instead of honoring his work, the regime is actively working to silence him through, among other oppressive tactics. A court order was recently issued against him, by which he is required to pay a total of UGX 30,000,000/= within 14 days or spend three months in prison. Why? Because he made a post on his social media platform calling out an injustice that, in the court's wisdom, amounts to contempt.

I am calling on all Ugandans of good conscience, in Uganda and abroad, to stand with Dr. Spire in whatever way we can, and help him resolve this challenge.

Something has been failing to leave my head since that village meeting today. As the commander was trying to figure out what to do, one of the police officers, Okema or something similar, was trying to gauge the villagers' sentiments. So we conversed about the rigged elections, and someone said we would not work with the chairman that was forced on us. The officer said something along these lines: So then you can leave the village. Someone asked, Why should we go from our homes? And the officer repeated: If you don't like the new chairman, just go.
This is something I'm not quite able to fathom.
That an adult male, of sound mind, in uniform that says Protect and Serve, is telling people to vacate their land (and go where?) because the government is imposing a new village chairman on them.
And this is not "Muzungu go home" - no, no! This is a black man telling black people to leave their homesteads because there will be a new sheriff in the village.
So, as someone earlier asked here: What is there in Garuga that the government is so interested in it, people, please help me to understand: What the hell is going on???
