Very sorry to hear that one of my all time musical heroes @Bernie_Marsden has passed away. What a guitarist! I will always remember the wonderful gigs at Glasgow Apollo and the equally wonderful blues gigs with Micky Moody. RIP.
Enjoyed a phenomenal talk at the London Branch of the Elgar Society @ElgarLondon by @annedudleymusic this evening. Topic Elgar’s orchestration and the challenge that she accepted to create a reduced arrangement of Pomp & Circumstance March No 1 for the Proms in 2020.
Fantastic evening at @officialronnies with @HerbAlpert and his band.
Rescheduled several times due to covid pandemic restrictions so delighted that it actually happened. Phenomenal 6 string bass player Hussain Jiffry.
Really enjoyed @RideLondon today. Hot and sunny 103 mile route through East London and Essex in 6 hours 9 minutes on the Garmin. My 7th time. One of my mottos is “keep doing it until you cant”. Tomorrow’s bank holiday is perfectly timed!
ICAS Council strategy day in London last Thursday with evening reception for our London based members at the wonderful @SG_SkyGarden in Fenchurch Street. Great to meet new people and share stories.
Breakfast meeting at the @HouseofCommons this morning. Topic Improving Diversity: Access to the Professions. Chair @LizTwistMP MP Shadow Minister for Scotland. Excellent discussion. I’m thinking of developing ICAS battle-bus….
Really enjoyed the @EtapeSeries in Pitlochry on Sunday. My 6th time! Already booked for 2024. One of my mottos is “keep doing it until you can’t”. Photo at the end.
Took my Guru Photon to @CyclefitUK today for a Saddle Fit. Very high tech pressure sensor technology resulted in the purchase of a Selle Italia Diva S3 which is fantastic. Sorted for the Etape Caledonia and RideLondon100.
Attended Bach St Matthew Passion concert in St George Hanover Square with Billy this afternoon. London Handel Orchestra and choir of St Georges. Conductor Laurence Cummings. Awestruck by the wonderful counter tenor @tim_mead. Incredible voice.
Another 2 of my musical heroes departed this week. @ryuichisakamoto and Ray Schulman. Ryuichi’s work with @RobinScottUK and @ymo were a huge influence on my early pop sensibilities. Ray’s band Gentle Giant @GGIANTMUSIC were innovative and remain unmatched. Thank you. RIP. xx
