Division 2 and 3 schools need to get their heads out of the clouds. If you are a .500 program or worse the last thing you should be doing is judging a player based on size. You sit there and wonder why you have trouble getting good, it’s clear you don’t have an eye for talent. #isaidwhatisaid

You can’t ask players you offer to commit to you if realistically you have nothing to offer to them. I don’t care what level a player is going to as their first stop bc every true ball player has aspirations of playing at the highest level regardless if they say it out loud or not.

Biggest BS I hear in college recruiting…”he has tools but he just isn’t big enough yet.”

This makes me feel like:

1) Your weight room program/staff are below average in their program design.
2) You fail to provide proper nutrition for your players
3) Overall you don’t feel you can help that player piece it together when he gets on campus.

Bear with me on this one…Biggest problem I see in the recruiting landscape is the inability of programs to continue development when a player gets to their program.

It’s fine and dandy to get the complete package when a player steps on campus.

If more programs operated this way to create a pipeline they would create a better culture for long term success.

Side note: I understand coaches are under an immense amount of pressure to win and jobs are consistently on the line.

I agree, if a coach has a great relationship with someone who consistently turns out quality players that compete, have legitimate metrics, baseball IQ, positive makeup, and can provide game video against good competition there is no reason you can’t take chances on talent sight unseen especially when schools have limited recruiting budgets and they can’t get around the country to see the wide array of talent out there.

Did you actually read his post bc honestly, what he is saying happens all the time and it’s due to bad advice by someone in their corner. It gets harder and harder to obtain an opportunity to play college baseball. Unless you are going to make a massive jump in metrics/performance in the time you are “holding out” you could possibly miss your opportunity to even compete in college. If you are so sure of your ability you should A) go JUCO for a year and gain credibility at the college level or B) take a good offer from someone who wants and values you and perform even though it’s not your “first choice” put up numbers and enter the portal bc it is the way of the world now and any coach who gets butt hurt that you do that isn’t being realistic in the college athletics space.

Notice that they have yet to commit there and that program is committing kids that play their position.

The door does not remain open forever, so if you want to gamble in recruiting, you better hold some good cards.
