@peter__duffy Heartbreaking, totally understandable. I donβt blame you. Utterly disgraceful how clinicians are treated. I left the NHS a few years ago (non clinical) as I couldnβt stand by & watch the NHS mgrs & government ignore you all. Enjoy the rest & thank u π
So true. After the funeral especially, people think that itβs all over. From personal experience & from my Soul Doula work, support is needed for a long time after. Keep being there π
Please share this important message.
When you talk about the person who has died, you are helping to keep their memory alive, which is a wonderful gift.

@CoBHospice @BrionyLeylandtv@BBCSouthNews Thank you to your hospice & the patients for sharing the importance of talking about death & dying. Iβm a Soul Doula (end of life practitioner) & desperately trying to bring this into the mainstream support for end of life. We all deserve a βgood deathβ π
@Janicemoth1 It is indeed, which must change & Iβm on that mission to do so! So good what you do too Janice. Connection & community is invaluable π
Today I had the honour of delivering a heart led presentation, to 30 women, about βWhat is a Soul Doulaβ
Our why we do what we do & why we need more.
Iβm proud of every woman who shared their death, dying & grief story. It takes courage in our society to do that.

Dysfunctional parents teach their children that family is everything even when thereβs no support. If their adult child tries to stand up for themselves, theyβre painted as ungrateful. They demand respect, but donβt to give it. The relationship is about compliance, not connection.
This is Keanu Reeves.
He was abandoned by his father
at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers.
He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident.
His daughter died at birth.
His wife died in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister battled leukemia.
No bodyguards, no luxury houses. Keanu lives in an ordinary apartment and likes wandering around town and often seen riding a subway in NYC When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants,
one crying as he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 - On the same day, Keanu deposited the necessary amount in his bank account. In his career, he has donated large sums to hospitals including $75 million of his earnings from "The Matrix" to charities.
In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery & bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him.
In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours.
In life, sometimes the ones most broken from inside are the ones who are willing to help others who need it as they no what true pain and hurt feels like.
This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: to be real.

@JulesLewis6@goodgrieftrust@JulesLock1@RoyLilley@ShaneTickell@FabNHSStuff This is great but please, open up conversations with Soul Doulas/Soul midwives too. Weβre highly trained & skilled at navigating end of life choices, death & dying. We can help, just ask. Weβd love to support π
The likes of @goodgrieftrust and @thegriefcast have started to raise issues surrounding death, loss and grief. It's been desperately needed and is obviously wanted. Few talk about the quality of the places that we get to say goodbye to our loved ones. I think we deserve better.
Thankyou @allontheboard for acknowledging the importance of our pets.
We know when we lose a much loved family dog, cat or any animal, we can feel genuine pain and sadness and it can be devastating. π§‘πΎπ
