@Suhail We are bootstrapping our startup - A platform for building apps that help users pass MCQ tests e.g. driving license, language, pro certs - https://t.co/4VaNApYdvc
I write weekly updates & share them with friends: https://t.co/G9Dpf0o1bs
(Never shared these in public before)
@dhh It comes down to incentives.
In private healthcare the hospitals are incentivised to keep you sick.
There are corner cases where public healthcare breaks down but by and large the incentives are better aligned.
@Ankaman616 I understand the sentiment but talk to anyone who works in advertising and the (1) ability to run targeted campaigns at scale based on e.g. people’s preferred breakfast cereal & (2) inability of my dad gen to tell they are being sold to - is under indexed I reckon.
@Ankaman616 There is a scramble to change the channel in our fam when this one comes on. We are so polar opposite to this MF our kids think taxis only take you to airports.
Don’t mind number of sports as much as the fact that for something like swimming there are 4 styles, 4 lengths, plus a relay. The sheer number of medals that can be racked up is neither representative of the popularity nor accessibility of the sport.
@CJFDillow Can someone tell him about the global competitive parenting sport dominated by the Asian middle class?
Poor Sunak prolly still wakes up screaming in fear of being compared unfavourably to the second cousin of his MIL’s neighbour.

@ImSh4yy@thehamouche A possible optimisation would be to use UDP for analytics data b/c a data point lost doesn’t really matter in the aggregate?
Really cool project btw. Been meaning to do this in fastapi.
@Carnage4Life Anecdotally -
In the decade before the dotcom crash, business or medicine, not tech was the #1 choice for competitive middle class parents trying to reverse engineer the economic future of their children.

Tl;dr sometimes a fine for tardiness makes it transactional which means more people are late more often. Not saying this isn’t a good business to build - it will be good for chosen charities - but it may not achieve the desired outcomes.
I started cycling 8y ago to save £300/month from tubes.
I was able to spent that money to rent a better, healthier, happier place for my kids to grow up in.
#LondonLovesCycling b/c it is a cheat code to increase disposable income and spend it on things that matter.
🌈 Let’s make sure London’s next Mayor knows how much we all love cycling!

Maybe I'm getting old, but I love this meme. @htmx_org is such a breath of fresh air.
Notice how the rise in complexity of front-end frameworks correlates with interest rates.
Free money = growth at all costs = big teams = compartmentalized work = rise in technical complexity
@nntaleb I suspect that cycling is meditative.
It is for me - in a way running isn’t.
While cycling my front brain is engaged with balance, navigating the traffic etc.
Running on the other hand requires less focus and my thoughts drift to my problems.
