So apparently, grocery stores throw out perfectly good food every single day. Like, a lot of it.
Meanwhile, 1 in 4 Canadians don't know where their next meal is coming from.
And 46.5% of all food in Canada ends up in landfills. Which is also a climate disaster. Don't love that for us.
Recently learned about the work of a Canadian company called @SecondHarvestCA that picks up food from the stores before it gets tossed and gets it to people who need it.

Year of the Snake 🐍🧧✨ 3,000 years of celebrations, one reptile still misunderstood by much of the West. Cultural Experts say this Lunar New Year is a time to shed the past and grow, symbolized by how a snake sheds its skin. But do you actually know about the animal this calendar year honors? Here are my favorite facts about this legless legend:

🐍 evolved from Lizards
🐍 were around with the dinosaurs
🐍 can be found on every populated continent
🐍 can be smaller than a worm to longer than a pickup truck
🐍 Male snakes have two penises and females have two clitorises 😱 (In some species, the dual penises are covered in spikes or hooks 🪝 🍆😳)
🐍 have thermal vision
🐍 don’t chew their food, they swallow prey whole because they can open their mouth four times wider than their skull.
🐍 play an important ecological role as critical pest controllers and nutrient cyclers.

🔴 Damage assessment is ongoing at the Palisades fire.  However, preliminary reports estimate the damage or destroyed structures to be in the thousands.

🔴 It is safe to say that the Palisades Fire is one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of #LosAngeles. 

Extreme fire behavior continues to challenge firefighting efforts for the #PalisadesFire. Winds gusts up to 60 MPH are expected to resume throughout the day. #Firefighters and air resources will continue to work to protect the community and infrastructures and gain control over fire containment.

#PalisadesFire; Due to multiple questions on the topic… We did experience some challenges with water pressure while battling the Pacific Palisades Fire. LADWP proactively filled all available water storage tanks, including three 1-million-gallon tanks located in the Palisades area. However, water availability was impacted at higher elevations, which affected some fire hydrants due to limited replenishment of water tanks in those areas. The extreme demand caused a slower refill rate for these tanks which created a challenge for our firefighting effort.
