A thought on football…

Man Utd, who haven’t been a great team for many years, have now bought three (more) expensive midfielders.
Aston Villa, who won a European trophy, have to sell to avoid punishment.
The system, which was supposed to impose financial stability, now does everything to preserve the advantage of the top teams. There is almost no jeopardy for them and no path to the top for the rest.
It works if you see the Premier League as basically five or six famous teams, with a supporting cast who don’t really matter. And that, I suspect, is a lot of people, around the world.
If your passion is solely for the famous clubs and the superstar players, then fine. There’s a half-and-half scarf waiting for you.
But for the rest of us, there is a gnawing feeling of disconnect and disappointment, exacerbated by the actions of FIFA.
When I grew up, watching from the terraces at Upton Park, football was a game that belonged to the fans. Does it still?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Football needs to reevaluate its rules on finances. Teams being forced to sell their best players damages everything that is good about the competition. It’s killing the hopes, dreams and ambition of every club except the elite.

People paying a lot of money for season tickets etc just to see their teams being ripped apart by the “big 6”!

Then can’t spend any money to replace those players!

The current cost control rules in football were not designed to create sustainability (as substantial owner subsidised losses are still allowed) but to prevent 'another' Chelsea or Manchester City upsetting the status quo.

In the season before Abramovich, Chelsea had the joint 5th highest wage bill. The following season it was the highest with average wages going from £21k to £54k a week (and this was in 2003/04)

In the case of Manchester City they went from 5th to 2nd after the Mansour takeover, and were top by 2011/12. Wages going from average of £38k a week to £94k a week during this period.

I've never met a Chelsea or City fan who has tried to deny the impact of the new owners has given the clubs a competitive budget.

So can understand why those Newcastle and Villa fans feel their clubs are on the wrong side of history

The Home Office is advertising for ‘a long-term transformation programme in the delivery of asylum support and accommodation services.’

Basically bringing all the existing contracts together.

They call it a 'transformative re-procurement'.

They are searching for suppliers who can do the following...

- Accommodation provision - ‘to meet the varied needs of asylum seekers’ and to support ‘community integration’.

- Accommodation management - to ensure a ‘safe, suitable, and responsive living environment for asylum seekers.’

- Transport - provide a 24/7/365 transportation service that is ‘timely’ with ‘professional drivers’.

- Sustenance - receive appropriate ‘cash’ and a ‘payment card’ is provided.

- Safety and Security - ensuring the ‘safety and security’ of the illegals.

- Audit and Assurance services - for inspections and reviews to identify areas ‘for improvement’.

- Service User Assistance - support ‘throughout their asylum journey’ ‘from initial application and arrival at accommodation to integration into the community’. Helping the illegals to ‘access’ local services.

- Wellbeing and Safeguarding - ‘specialist safeguarding staff’ 'must' be deployed.

The contract start date?

1st September 2029.

End date, 31st August 2036, with a ‘possible extension’ to 2039.

2039. Think about that.

The illegals are going to keep coming and coming, and our rotten establishment is planning to accommodate them until AT LEAST 2039.

I want to be really clear about what a Restore Britain Government will do.

Every illegal migrant arriving will be deported, immediately - man, woman or child.

Those politicians/officials who are signing off on these contracts will be investigated, and prosecuted/imprisoned where appropriate.

We will abolish the entire asylum system. There will be no more asylum seekers.

Restore Britain has published the most comprehensive deportation policy ever produced in our country.

We’ve done our homework.

We will stop the boats, we will deport the illegals, we will make Britain safe again.
