🚨90 Years Ago Today, Two Countries Changed the Rules for Gold! 🇳🇱🇨🇭

🪙This Day In Sound Money History: September 27

👉1936 — Netherlands: A restriction on exporting gold coins & bullion took effect. Gold could still leave with the Netherlands Bank’s authorization.

👉1936 — Switzerland: Its government issued a decree ending the Swiss National Bank’s obligation to redeem banknotes in gold & setting a lower gold value for the franc—an average devaluation of about 30%.

👉One country restricted gold leaving. The other changed what its paper money promised in gold.

👉For stackers, the distinction matters: owning gold, exporting it, & redeeming paper for it are three different rights. Governments changed two of those rules on this date.

👉Tether says it holds more than 146 tonnes of physical gold—more than the official gold reserves of many countries.

👉Now look at what https://t.co/M6f8uKsvwM disclosed in an SEC filing: a Tether affiliate is storing physical silver through https://t.co/M6f8uKsvwM’s facilities, including Las Vegas. The companies also have agreements covering precious-metal leasing & trading.

👉Tether invested $150 million in https://t.co/M6f8uKsvwM earlier this year. That puts a major gold holder inside the infrastructure that stores, trades & finances bullion.

🥈For silver stackers, that connection is a big deal. But the filing does not say how much silver the affiliate holds or prove Tether is buying silver at the scale it buys gold... I will monitor the situation for udpates!
