EBX SET TO LAUNCH ELECTRIC BUS SERVICES IN KIIRA MUNICIPALITY
E-Bus Xpress Kiira Ltd (EBX) is set to expand its eco-friendly public mass transport network into Kira Municipality. Launching this August 28th, 2026, a planned fleet of 15 locally developed Kayoola Electric Buses will roll out to deliver safe, scheduled, and reliable transit across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
The new service will connect growing residential communities to Ntinda Hub and Kampala, with three dedicated feeder routes:
1. Ntinda β Najjera β Kira β Kitukutwe β Kiwologoma β Nakwero
2. Ntinda β Naalya β Kyaliwajjala β Namugongo β Sonde
3. Ntinda β Kisasi β Kyanja β Kungu
Each route will have 5 buses connecting passengers with scheduled services, air conditioned buses, onboard Wi-Fi, modern safety features and cashless payments.
Fares will start from just UGX 800 for adults and UGX 400 for students, depending on the distance travelled.
For students, the School Cashless Days Campaign will introduce smart digital wristbands for quick and convenient fare payments. No cash will be accepted onboard.
With zero emission electric buses, EBX is bringing a cleaner and more convenient transport option closer to communities while supporting better connections across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.

New study reveals over 210 new HIV infections in Kampala weekly.
The spike is suspected to be driven by unregulated sexual activity in massage parlours, spas, and lodges, domestic violence, structural inequalities, and digital or social media-influenced exposure.

Journalists donβt always leave the trauma they witness in the field behind.
From reporters to editors and even studio interviewers, repeated exposure to harrowing stories can take a toll on mental health. Yet deadlines often leave little room to pause, process or talk.
We need newsrooms where journalists can safely vent, support one another and access help when they need it.
No story is worth suffering in silence.
