Africa Day & I couldn’t write; but I can’t stay silent.
25 May 1963: Nkrumah said unity is the weapon against neo-colonialism. Touré said: “Don’t Westernise/Easternise Africa. Take what develops us & root it in our values.”
Today: Unity = debt power, fair climate finance!
🌍 Labour Day 2026
Workers’ safety in Africa now links to climate and debt pressures. With countries in debt distress and limited finances, protecting workers is a challenge. Cities step in through paradiplomacy, but more support is needed.

“A Critical Afrocentric Appraisal of COP30 & G20”
COP30 brought big promises on adaptation, but reliance on markets risks deepening Africa’s debt. The G20 closed with talk of reform but without binding commitments. Africa must demand debt-free climate finance, value addition etc.
Africa’s resilience requires justice. Centuries of extraction, slavery, colonialism, unequal trade, still echo as Africa loses US$88B yearly to illicit flows and US$30–50B to climate impacts. Reparations must fuel the green transition and empower youth & women.
#ReparativeJustice
Climate finance is a lifeline for Africa’s cities, but youth and women still access only a tiny share. When funding flows directly to local innovators, African cities become greener, fairer, and more resilient. #ClimateFinance#AfricanCities#WomenInClimate#Youth4Climate#COP30
Decentralised cooperation, city partnerships, and pooled pipelines can unlock fairer financing. With #COP30 underway in Brazil, African cities have a moment to demand climate justice rooted in African leadership. #ClimateFinance#AfricanCities#sustainablecities
