🚨Turns out, two Chinese Coast Guard Personnel Died During Last Year’s Pursuit of a Philippine Patrol Vessel!

In August last year, a Chinese Coast Guard vessel and a Chinese naval warship collided while pursuing a Philippine patrol vessel in the South China Sea. Footage of the incident circulated widely.

However, the CCP did not officially acknowledge the incident at the time and instead deleted related online discussions. It was not until one year later that official information revealed that two Chinese Coast Guard personnel had died in the collision.

Yesterday (August 5), the WeChat account of the Chinese state-run outlet CNR Military reported that four “martyrs”—Yi Xinyu, Miao Jian, Cheng Long, and Qiao Helin—had been posthumously awarded the so-called title of “Loyal Guardians of the Armed Police Force.”

Official records show that Yi Xinyu and Cheng Long, both from Shandong Province, died while participating in a "maritime operation" on August 11, 2025.

Yi Xinyu served in the Chinese Coast Guard. According to official records, he “died on August 11, 2025, while participating in a frontline maritime rights-protection operation in the South China Sea.”

Cheng Long served as a law-enforcement officer aboard the Nanyu, a vessel under the Chinese Coast Guard’s Third Directly Subordinate Bureau. Official records also state that he “died during a maritime rights-protection operation on August 11, 2025,” but do not specify the exact location.

According to video released by the Philippine Coast Guard, on August 11, 2025, a Chinese Coast Guard vessel was pursuing the Philippine patrol vessel Suluan at high speed in waters near Democracy Reef—known in China as Huangyan Island—in the South China Sea.

During the pursuit, the Chinese Coast Guard vessel carried out a dangerous maneuver and collided with the Chinese military’s Guilin, a guided-missile destroyer. A massive impact could be heard at the scene. The bow of the Chinese Coast Guard vessel was severely damaged, leaving the ship unable to navigate.
