What is happening in our Nation's Capital today is one predictable outcome of the hyper-partisanship fostered in recent years by BOTH parties.
We MUST change our political dynamics if we wish to save our #Democracy!

Regardless of whether you are elated or disappointed, maintain composure, have faith in our institutions, and observe all COVID and social distancing guidelines for the safety of yourself and others.
Today, regardless of whether you're a member or not, try to follow the Alliance Party values (https://t.co/wqrAWgxtvG): Unity, and therefore Community. Responsibility. Accountability. Fairness. Integrity. Civility.
This election, please be civil to those who have different political views.
Civility is more than politeness; it requires moving past 'us' vs 'them', & listening & seeking to understand those with whom we disagree. Civility is the baseline of respect that we owe to one another.
Our president @blankenhorn3 believes cultivating intellectual humility is essential to the task of depolarization. Here, he explains why and lists suggestions for how to cultivate it:

(1/4) We now have one loud, dominate voice in the Republican Party saying that he will upset the status quo and, perhaps, the present World Order with no clearly defined alternatives or replacements.
As a reminder: Trump wouldn’t be such a disaster if he was checked by the GOP... but they put party over country; re-election over principles.
The GOP is the problem and Trump is the symptom.
And a little secret: The Democratic Party isn’t much better.
Legislation and policy should always be driven by a desire to effectively solve real problems. If your focus is on understanding of problems and practical solutions to those problems, ideology is unnecessary and hampers progress and effective policy.
The problem with ANY ideology, from Socialism to Liberatarianism, is that is prevents pragmatic solutions and reasonable compromise.
Ideology is where you've let someone else do your thinking for you. And often that other party has an economic motive.
(1/2) If the US goes into another recession because of our dysfunctional political parties and their inability to effectively deal with our urgent economic and social challenges, the pain will NOT be evenly shared...
"We" are not being "invaded" by ANYONE. Weapons of war are being used by AMERICANS against other AMERICANS. We need universal background checks on those we elect to public office. Their rhetoric and lack of action are our internal weapons of mass destruction.
