“There is no in between. There is no in between equality or inequality. There is no in between equity or inequity. There is no in between racist and anti-racist” - @DrIbram#ElonEd
LET’S LISTEN! Policymakers can change the power multimillionaire corporations and wealthy people have over minorities. This racial wealth gap is NOT a coincidence. #ElonEd#HowToBeAnAntiracist
@amoore421 It must be such a challenge to create a school community when teachers aren't able to see each other as often. How is your school connecting teachers and bringing community during this time?
A3. I have been feeling less connected to other future educators. There are fewer opportunities to meet new people and learn from their very new experiences. How are others making new professional connections? #2ndchat
A4. I have been working with students taking online classes and have seen how dedicated they are to their learning. They adapt so quickly and are trying their best to learn within the given circumstances. #2ndchat
@LKrantzberg I am new to the twitter chat community but have enjoyed my time so far. It has shown me a new side of social media and how we can use it to become better educators.
A2. It has been difficult to adjust to class when many are hybrid. It has been challenging to find a routine when working in two new settings. #2ndchat
A1. I have felt supported by friends, professors, and the community. They are there for me when I need it and always provide me a safe place to be my authentic self. #2ndchat
I would also validate that stress is normal to feel and that it is okay to not be feeling okay. We need to support our students in all of their emotions. #pretchat
A3) I would suggest that the student talks to someone about their stress and emotions. That could be a teacher, friend, or trusted adult. I also am a huge advocate of deep breathing techniques to manage stress. #pretchat
@chloeyoon13 @drzimmerle It is so important to emphasize that stress is normal and that we all need to be supporting each other. We want to make sure we are working toward a classroom where students feel safe enough to share their stress.
@GalianiKylie I also have been doing online yoga videos. It has made such an improvement in my physical health and my mental health. It has been amazing to see the progress I have made.
A2) I like to move my body by going on long walks by myself or with friends. Luckily I am able to walk to class every day and able to get in a long walk in the afternoons. I like to write it in my planner as a reminder that I need to take time for me. #pretchat
@GalianiKylie I relate to being stressed about the future, especially when I feel as if I have just tackled other tasks. Doing a bit each day can be a great way to manage tasks and remain in the moment. #pretchat
