Schools scared to death.
The truth is, one education under desks,
Stooped low from bullets;
That plunge when we ask
Where our children
Shall live
& how
& if
@Cignaquestions @Cigna your deductible policy is unjust and not helpful to customers. I’m not even trying to not pay my bill. I’m trying to get my deductible to apply in the year which the bill is paid.
@Cignaquestions I will happily email (I already called). But the public should know- if someone goes for emergency treatment December 31st at 11pm, then the deductible won’t be applied to the next year (Jan 1), even if that is when bill is paid. It will uselessly go to deductible for prior year.
@Cignaquestions I’m not confused. I understand that you don’t want to apply it to the 2022 deductible. But that’s the year I’m paying, and it’s unjust to not apply to this year.
I own a few rental properties in the low-income neighborhood I live in. I also help immigrant families who can’t access traditional financing become homeowners. You might say we try to help low-income families find--what's a name for it--"Financial Peace". A thread:
When someone asks us if we are Christians, I think the best answer is to tell them to ask the poor, the incarcerated, the immigrants and refugees, the widows and the orphans, the least of these.
They will tell you who the Christians are.
We don’t just want a country where the George and Travis McMichaels of the world are found guilty. We want a world where the Ahmaud Arberys of the world grow up and live.
@AmyEBurdett1 @ErinMHarding @MrsSarahP @KlauraLenda Thanks for the shoutout! I have yet to find another mom in my program… so I guess this is where my ppl are 🙌🏻
What the hell.
This is infuriating. Awful exegesis, faulty logic, and a complete co-opting of the Christian faith for a political stance. I’m done with this.
Saw a short clip floating around of Michael Flynn calling for “one religion” in America.
I took a moment to dig to make sure the broader context was, in fact, Christian nationalist in nature.
Answer: Yup, and it arguably gets *even more so* the longer you watch.
5. Maybe most devastatingly, in the Top 25, not a SINGLE question is ever posed to God. The Top 25 never ask God anything.
Prick the Psalter and it bleeds the cries of the oppressed pleading with God to act. This is completely lacking in the Top 25.
Just worked through the @CCLI's 25 most popular worship songs after spending months studying the Psalms. Here's what stands out:
1. Justice is mentioned only 1x in 1 song. Mishpat alone shows up 65x in 33 different Psalms.
2. The poor are completely absent in the top 25.
“The crisis in the US church has almost nothing to do with being liberal or conservative; it has everything to do with…settling for a common, generic US identity that is part patriotism, part consumerism, part violence, and part affluence.” - Walter Brueggemann
To riff on a book I’m reading, the difference between charity and justice is the difference between “helping a few people beat the odds” and “changing the odds for everyone.” Both are good and needful. But too often we mistake charity for justice, especially in white Xian spaces.
