In lecture we talked about 4 different research techniques, focus groups, survey, observation of behavior and experimentation. They are all beneficial in understanding audiences, but in your opinion which do you feel is the most beneficial research technique? #UWJ201 #312
@zachschu1 As most people do, I find it creepy, but I am still drawn in to buy products from these advertisements. This being said, I both enjoy and don’t enjoy personalized ads because I find myself spending too much money on them, but the products are things I had wanted. #UWJ201 #312
@hinasuzuki13 I feel that influencer ads are more powerful because others see people they look up to using a certain product and that influences them to also use the product. In addition, if that person has expertise/ authority of that issue/ object it makes the ad more powerful. #UWJ201 #312
@RethmanJenna One reason social media causes a behavioral change in me is when something has an emotional effect on me. Whether it be something that makes me angry, sad, happy, etc, when I see something that causes high emotions I am more likely to act/ have a behavioral change. #UWJ201 #312
@CBellmy Some negative consequences of the peripheral route can be that it aims to persuade by likability or attractiveness without knowing much about the actual product or message itself. We also talked about “biased thinking” from high emotion under the peripheral route. #UWJ201 #312
Today in lecture we talked about the two routes under the Elaboration Likelihood Model. Although the central route tends to be stronger, do you find yourself more persuaded by the central or peripheral route? #UWJ201 #312
In lecture we talked about the verifiable truth and what questions journalists should ask themselves. Do you think journalists do a good job of answering these questions based on the information they deliver to the public? #UWJ201 #312
@dpstevensWI I also found this interesting because of the distrust in journalism and the news today. I believe they identify themselves as moderate to minimize the bias within their information, although they lean towards one side when faced between being liberal or conservative #UWJ201 #312
@christinejmary I agree. I’ve noticed that right after a significant news story occurs, all of the news outlets rush to get the story out first. This can be dangerous, as we learned, because the public may not be getting completely accurate news. #UWJ201 #312
@ZiebellTaylor@AlexaRappaport I agree. Limiting the wide variety of mainstream media available to us would definitely limit bias. However, I don’t think this would be possible seeing as mainstream media continues to grow everyday. #UWJ201 #312
In lecture we learned that large companies such as Disney, own many smaller companies. This gives larger companies a lot of power. Even with the media ownership rules, how can this be dangerous? #UWJ201 #312
@taraminor11 I think this division is strong so it is unlikely it will be ceased, but it could be through conversation. We talked about how adversary’s don’t understand each other and I feel that if they talked and listened to one another the divide could decrease slightly. #UWJ201 #312
In lecture we talked about the key journalist standards, one being accuracy. How do you think well known sources such as The Washington post or The New York Times would be affected if they presented inaccurate information to the public? #UWJ201 #312
@carly_marsch I believe that stories that give media business the most profit ultimately have a negative impact on our country’s democracy and do not give the people much opportunity to expand their opinions because all we see is “what is newsworthy”. #UWJ201 #312
