MAP welcomes the announcement of an agreement between Israel and Hamas to suspend hostilities in Gaza.
It marks the beginning, not the end, of efforts to restore health, dignity and freedom to the Palestinian people.

3 more people have drowned in the Channel.
I'll be on Sky News in a moment to talk about it. Again.
What can I say to convince someone that we can have a policy of life at the border, instead of one of always more death?
The Caesar Files. Barrel bombs. Chemical weapons. Enforced disappearances. Torture. Starvation sieges. Massacres. Exile. Forced displacement.
#Syria has liberated itself and humanity from this grotesquely ugly chapter of human history, the rule of Assad.
Let there be justice.
Massive highlight of the season taking part in the opening of @Ch_JesusChrist Giving Machines with colleagues from @JRSUK and other amazing charities! Check them out in Spitalfields Market https://t.co/kYsk6E1rv8
Today we show solidarity in the workplace with the horrendous situation in Gaza.
Thousands of Palestinians - mainly women and children - have been killed by Israeli military operations and many more are injured.
We need an immediate and permanent ceasefire, an end to the humanitarian crisis and respect for international law.
So pleased @JRSUK is partnered with this brilliant initiative, providing people with such a tangible way to make a difference this Christmas https://t.co/FggnXHqxlO
I was worried about not waking up for @KatieTaylor’s fight but my daughter has decided there’ll be no sleep at all tonight so no danger of missing it…very good of her 🙈
This underscores what a dangerous development Israel banning @UNRWA is - not only for the millions of Palestinian refugees directly affected but for the whole international humanitarian order
The vote by the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) against @UNRWA this evening is unprecedented and sets a dangerous precedent. It opposes the UN Charter and violates the State of Israel’s obligations under international law.
This is the latest in the ongoing campaign to discredit UNRWA and delegitimize its role towards providing human-development assistance and services to #Palestine Refugees.
These bills will only deepen the suffering of Palestinians, especially in #Gaza where people have been going through more than a year of sheer hell.
It will deprive over 650,000 girls & boys there from education, putting at risk an entire generation of children.
These bills increase the suffering of the Palestinians & are nothing less than collective punishment.
Putting an end to UNRWA & its services will not strip the Palestinians from their refugee status. That status is protected by another UN General Assembly resolution until a fair and lasting solution is found to the plight of the Palestinians.
Failing to push back these bills will weaken our common multilateral mechanism established after World War 2.
This should be a concern to all.
Third film: Stop Motion - artistic and dark with a clever plot and some shocking scenes - again a range of views at #HalloweenMovieNight averaging at an 8 - strongest film of the night!
For the fourth time in as many days, we remind the IDF and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times.
Today marks a day of mourning for those whose loved ones were killed and abducted in Israel by Hamas and other armed groups on 7th October 2023.
This day also marks the start of the Israeli forces’ onslaught in Gaza that has killed tens of thousands and triggered an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
Well done @PregnantScrewed for calling this out - I genuinely can’t understand any politicians who believes we need anything other than better maternity pay, better paternity leave, and more affordable childcare
'In one breath she wants to protect women's rights, in another she wants to take away maternity pay which women have fought for for decades.'
@PregnantScrewed's Joeli Brearley tells @SimonMarksFSN that Kemi Badenoch's comments on 'excessive' maternity pay are 'dangerous'.
