Site diaries:
2560 BC: written at the end of the day, from memory
1950: written at the end of the day, from memory
2010: typed at the end of the day, from memory
2026: talked through on the drive home
We've shipped the biggest change to site diaries in 4,500 years.
The oldest site diary we know of is 4,500 years old.
In 2013, archaeologists uncovered the logbooks of Merer, an inspector who led a crew moving limestone to the Great Pyramid at Giza.
Each day was recorded on papyrus:
→ where the crew went
→ what they carried
→ where they spent the night
Fast forward 4,500 years, and most site diaries still work the same way. A blank entry, filled in from memory at the end of a long day.
The biggest change? Papyrus became a screen.
We think the site diary deserves more than a format change. So we went back to the beginning to rethink it.

The most successful construction software ever written is Microsoft Word.
Which may seem like an interesting thing to say when you build construction software for a living.
Every construction tech company assumes it's competing with the other construction software companies., but if you dig in and look at what has actually survived instead across paper to digital, on premise to SaaS, desktop to mobile, you'll find that through every one of those shifts the tools nobody managed to displace were Word, Excel and Outlook. Why? Because they're flexible.
I've written my first ever blog post linked in the comments, detailing why I think this is actually a really interesting thread to follow, and I'd love your thoughts on it!

Today, we launched @alloovium on @ycombinator
On major projects, documents aren't a neat pile, they're a web. One change on site means five documents to amend, and nobody catches the missed one until an auditor, regulator, or client's lawyer does.
Alloovium (YC S26) is the unifying layer. It reads everything a project produces from the tools teams already use, and turns it into cited answers and the documentation that moves the job forward. Every answer cites its exact source sentence. A human signs off on anything AI-drafted.
We're already live on projects in Australia and with YC's backing, we're expanding into the US through our Innovation Partner Program.
Our ask: construction is structurally viral, so one head contractor exposes us to ~50 other contractors a year. If you know head contractors, GCs, or ENR Top 400 firms in the US/North America, a warm intro goes a long way.
