Who would have thought? When most middle-class and well-to-do families in the 80s and 90s were striving to complete at least a UG degree (with educational opportunities far better than what existed in the 50s or 60s), one person - who got admission into a reputed educational institution for UG degree, threw away his studies and built a successful cinema career - would eventually become the Chief Minister and direct IAS, IPS officers who had spent years preparing for one of India's toughest competitive examinations.

It's not that a school dropout or a person without a degree cannot become a political leader. But this is a different case.

Here is someone whose journey to the highest executive office was powered primarily by cinema stardom, without having first established a comparable record of socio-political work or public administration or governance.

That is the real irony.

IAS and IPS officers have to prove themselves through years of education, relentless preparation, and one of the country's most demanding selection processes. On the other hand, a popular cinema star, backed by public support, can become the constitutional authority those IAS & IPS officers ultimately report to.

The topping irony is - "பிறப்பொக்கும் எல்லா உயிர்க்கும்."

ஒவ்வொரு இளைஞரும் சமூக மாற்றத்தின் தூதுவராக மாற வேண்டும். ஒவ்வொரு குடும்பமும் போதைக்கு எதிராக குரல் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். ஒவ்வொரு ஊரும் விழிப்புணர்வின் மையமாக மாற வேண்டும்.

Thiru TR Baalu filed a defamation case against me for publishing the assets/companies owned by him and his family through DMK Files & he had sought ₹100 Crores in damages.

As you all know, after a certain time period in the trial, I argued my own case and personally cross-examined him, and the details of which are in the public domain.

Also, during one of the cross-examinations, Thiru TR Baalu made defamatory remarks against me without substance in the court, and I had filed a case against him in the same court for making those allegations within the court premise.

Today, Thiru TR Baalu, out of his own wishes, decided to withdraw the defamation case filed against me by him. He filed the defamation case against me; to carry it further or not was his decision & not mine.

I wish to inform all concerned that I continue to stand by every single remark that I had made against the previous DMK govt and certain members of the DMK party till now.

I wish to thank Adv. Paul Kanagaraj, Adv. Kumaraguru and all members of the BJP legal team for their support during the trial of this case.

Truth always triumphs!

One of the most ignorant takes is that the “Six Sacred Abodes” are the six foremost temples of Murugan. There is no such concept in the early tradition.

The term is Aatrupadai, derived from Tirumurukāṟṟuppaṭai, in which Nakkeerar guides devotees to the shrines of Murugan. It is not a canonical list of the six most important temples.

Moreover, Tiruttani Murugan Temple does not appear in the poem. Instead, the poem refers to Kunruthor Ādal, encompassing Murugan’s hill shrines in general rather than a single temple.

Therefore, arguing that Murugan is exclusively a “Tamil god” simply because the popularly recognised six abodes are in Tamil Nadu is not a historically or textually sound argument.
