Omar Abdulkadir Artan is a young referee from Somalia who has risen through the ranks the hard way. 🇸🇴
He has already officiated back-to-back CAF Champions League finals, handled AFCON matches and taken charge of major World Cup qualifiers building a reputation at the highest level of African football.
During the World Cup referees’ preparation course, Omar Abdulkadir Artan stood out as one of Africa’s top performers, completing the program successfully and earning strong praise for his consistency and decision-making.
He had done everything right on the field and in the classroom showing why he was trusted for major games.
But his dream of stepping onto the world’s biggest stage has been cut short after being denied entry into the United States for the tournament.
It’s a painful setback but not the end of his journey.
Omar has come too far to be defined by one closed door.
There are still more stages, more finals, and more opportunities ahead.
Stay strong, Omar. The game is not finished.

Norway said that they are not going to play in World Cup in Qatar even if they qualified (they didn’t). Denmark left it until the last minute to confirm their participation in the World Cup 2022Germany forced their players to make political statements before the match in FIFA WC 2022 even though some players didn’t want to do it.
BBC literally disrupted the coverage of one of the best opening ceremonies of the World Cup in Qatar just for virtue signaling.
but for World Cup 2026, the whole media is silent other than a few token articles here and there and Norway and Germany aren’t protesting anything when there’s so much to protest about 🤡
🚨 WORST @FIFAcom PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME: INFANTINO SILENT AS US HUMILIATES AFRICA
Gianni Infantino selected Omar Abdulkadir Artan — Africa's top referee and first Somali at a World Cup — then watched US authorities deny him entry at the border despite diplomatic passport and approved visa. Turned back like trash. No reason. No fight.
Where is your voice, Infantino?
You preach "global football" and "unity" while selling out African officials to US border politics. This isn't leadership — it's cowardice and betrayal of the game.
You are proving every day why you are the worst FIFA president in history. Africa will not forget this disgrace.
Stand up or step down.
@DaleJohnsonBBC FIFA - proverbially " A Bad excuse is better than none " At this point the preamble to WC26 can't even at best be reviewed on "Rotten Tomatoes" It's bn a shit show from the Get! Sadly Infantino n his acolytes wnt be held accountable. Yet , Need Be! Come on guys; Football Unites
@DaleJohnsonBBC This would not have happened in Russia or Qatar. I hope the BBC have a documentary lined up blasting FIFA and the World Cup Host the US of A for it's blatant racism and bigotry. Look at the way they are treating Iran.
Biletlerini alan otellerde yerini ayırtan ABD vizeleri reddedildi. Paraları da yandı.
Dört yılda bir yapılan bir turnuvanın başlamadan içine ettiniz beyler! @FIFAWorldCup@FIFAcom
@iamrahmanosman Sometimes the way you dey think be someway ooo ..Like is the BlackStars the only team playing behind closed doors or because of your criticism so all other team plans must be on hold .. Don't you guys get tired ? Leave the team alone bro give the players the peace they need.
@Fentuo_ Truly share the same sentiment. The quality in depth. The young players in form having breakthrough seasons, experienced players with the last dance, quality cover in every position. All undone by an administrative decision that could be been so handled much much better Fent 🙈
I say all the time that the Brazil 2014 team is the best team Ghana has ever taken to the World Cup. A shame that we let money issues ruin what could have been an amazing tournament for us. This team was so good on their day!
Unpopular opinion: Argentina vs France was the most dramatic final, but Netherlands vs Argentina was the actual best game of the 2022 World Cup. It genuinely feels underrated because of how the tournament ended.
-Messi’s impossible no-look assist to Molina. -Argentina cruising at 2-0 up until the 83rd minute.
-Van Gaal throwing on target men and direct long-ball chaos.
-Weghorst striking in the 83rd, then the legendary 101st-minute trick free-kick equalizer.
-A breathless extra-time with Fernandez hitting the post.
-Emi Martinez penalty heroics and endless post-match pettiness.
-17 yellow cards followed by Denzel Dumfries getting a RED card after the final whistle.
Pure, unfiltered tournament drama. Easily one of the greatest games in World Cup recent history.
🚨🇬🇭You hate Baba Rahman just because of Kurt?
Baba Rahman played more matches than any Ghanaian left back this past season. He made over 43 appearances across domestic games and the Europa League. PAOK even finished 3rd and reached the Europa knockout stages.
He only stopped playing for Ghana because of how fans treated him, claiming he’s Kurt’s boy . Chris Hughton and Otto Addo both tried to convince him to return, but he refused. It took the current coach to finally get him to accept. If he’s not important, why did three different coaches beg him to come back?
Clearly, you don't know football if you can't see our massive left back deficit. Baba Rahman is literally the best Ghanaian left back in the world right now. Stop crying that he’s Kurt’s boy just because he got invited
This is Laura Juul Hansen, a woman working to fulfill her dream of establishing a football academy in Ghana. She is currently making progress by constructing facility for the academy.
I’ll tell you something for free.
At the highest level of football, there are certain things you cannot fluke.
Glasner won the Europa League with Frankfurt, this was a time big teams use to drop from UCL into Europa, so he had to face teams like Barcelona on the way. Still, he won the Europa.
He came to Palace, with a small budget compared to the other English teams, he won the FA Cup, the first trophy in Palace’s history, he beat Man City to win it. You can’t fluke that, he’s a winner.
He qualified them to Europa by winning the FA Cup , but they dropped to Conference league because of the multi-club ownership saga with Textor. Despite the setback, he has just won an European trophy for a South London club.
In 2 years, he has changed a club’s history and won 3 trophies for them if we add the community shield. He did this while losing big players, lost his captain January, lost his best player to Arsenal in summer, lost Olise.
This guy is a winner.
Black Stars Data-Driven Squad…
Yesterday I revealed the goalkeepers & full-backs.
Today it was the turn of the centre-backs & centre midfielders (all threads below).
Tomorrow I will reveal the attackers who will seek to fire Ghana to success at the World Cup…
I’m so serious.. is there any plan in motion to combat this drainage problem in the capital? All the water ways have been blocked by buildings. We are really selfish people because we have people who will pay to be allowed to build in places we shouldn’t.

Derrick Köhn
⚽️A flying wing-back who can be the perfect foil to Semenyo

⚽️Good progressing from deeper but not a role he's played of late
⚽️Comfortable carrying 1 vs 1 or in space
⚽️Rapid but can be suspect positionally
(2/5)
Gideon Mensah
⚽️Tends to be happier a bit deeper than Köhn, bringing his progressive passing to bear
⚽️Comfortable carrying incisively but volumes have dropped
⚽️Crosses with pace & whip but mixes deliveries nicely
⚽️An aggressive, front-foot defender, will leave spaces
