There are so many pieces of those 4 years that remain unknown. I’ll never know why those people abused me like they did. The darkness never made sense to me. I’ve realized I no longer need to understand what drove Elan directors to do what they did. Just that I survived them.
For the amount of attention Agape survivors have generated, it is pretty crazy how little has been done my people that are supposed to protect children. Or that the place is still running. Closing them is the absolute minimum that should be done, justice would be prosecution.
@RobinsNest333 @BossBunny503 So glad this helped. It might be hard to read because it’s so thick with content, be gentle with yourself and take as long as you need to finish it
@BossBunny503@whatissecure This makes me so happy- the race isn’t only to the swift! It’s to those that don’t give up!🧡 I’m proud of you for not giving up!
@whatissecure It’s taken me two years to get through it. I’m the same way with books, it’s so bad. But this one is life changing. Finish at your own pace. But know you’ll feel so validated and understand yourself so much more 💜
As a Survivor of a Christian Cult based "Troubled Teen Industry" program run by pedos who CSA-ed a ton of my friends, forced me to eat my own 🤮 and where I watched a kid die - I'm pissed off too
The Church has been doing this for centuries, how are you gna "fix them for Jesus"?
@SwinginOnAStarr Thank you! I’m hoping I can inspire other TTI survivors riddled with guilt and shame like I once was, to feel seen and validated from their experiences. This industry banks on no one believing “troubled kids.” Well.. I’m 30 and no longer a kid. And I’m not ever stopping
I tell my story through social media for my healing because, without without allowing myself to recall these memories, they won’t remain frozen. Abuse thrives in silence. #standuptochildabuse#unashamed
Forcing a child to not be able to wipe their tears or show emotion during active physical and emotional attack, is extremely damaging and leads to lifelong problems. Inflicting trauma onto children has its consequences. #accountability#ttisurvivors#elanschool
To heal from trauma, find communities or safe loved ones to help provide emotional and physical safety, including the safety from feeling shamed, admonished or judged, and to bolster the courage to tolerate, face, and process the reality of what has happened. #healingTTItrauma
Trauma is much more than a story of what happened long ago. Physical sensations and emotions imprint onto the body during the trauma as experienced in the present, as disruptive physical reactions.
Feeling free to know what you know and feel what you feel- is a basic human right. This was not the case at Elan. We were stripped of any identity, molded into little soldiers. (More like lab rats suffering behind glass that sociopaths gleefully orchestrated.)
The challenge of recovery is to re-establish ownership of your body and mind. Finding your self-identity that was stripped of you due to learned helplessness in your abuse, builds strength in recovery!
