On August 2–3, Comet 10P/Tempel 2 will reach its maximum brightness at around magnitude 8 and make its closest approach to Earth.

Visibility:
🌍 Southern Hemisphere — the comet will appear high in the sky.
🌌 Northern Hemisphere — look very low above the southern horizon.

Best viewing windows:
✨ August 2–3 — peak brightness and closest approach, but bright moonlight may interfere.
🌑 August 10–14 — darker skies around the New Moon on August 12, though the comet may fade to about magnitude 9.

🔭 You’ll need large binoculars, a small telescope, or a camera — Tempel 2 won’t be visible to the naked eye.

It is expected to be Tempel 2’s best appearance for the rest of the century, so don’t miss it!
