"A spokesman for the @OpenUniversity said: 'We don’t comment on cases post-settlement...'"
Post-settlement?
Two years ago, pre-settlement, they told the same paper that "ongoing legal proceedings" meant they could not "comment further at this time".

@RoisinMichaux Are you sure you need a Belgian employment lawyer?
I don't know your case, but employment at the European Commission would usually be governed by the EU civil service legal framework, not Belgian law.
This is a matter for the Vice chancellor of @UniofOxford Prof Irene Tracey, but also for the Chancellor @WilliamJHague. You were elected on an academic freedom platform: let's see some action, Lord Hague.
Due to escalating disruptive protests, I have decided to cancel the remainder of these lectures. This is deeply lamentable, but the disruption has undermined the academic nature of this series. Students shouldn't face bullying or harassment when attending academic events.
We doubt there's any traditional religion that says take the word of a non white person as gospel truth; don't listen to, or accept, other views; or that racism is the ultimate sin, greater than taking a life, so hating against Sikhs is pointless as well as vindictive. The religion at play in the tragic death of Henry Nowak and his treatment by police, is the new state religion of identity politics: https://t.co/KZa4zb7n51
@hriengaalkn "Expecting able bodied trans people to use facilities set aside for the disabled only puts more pressure" No need All males remain, as always, able to use the male-only facilities All females, as always, remain able to use the female-only facilities
@MikesSportsJam@_ConnieShaw Nobody has commented here on the sentence imposed, nor on the respective weight that the sentencing decision should have given to different factors.
Connie bemoaned the fact that the sentencing judge spelled out the mitigating factors - as every judge worth his salt does.
@elniedunne@_ConnieShaw It wasn't used to 'excuse or minimise harm caused'.
Other sections of the sentencing remarks will spells out the harm caused, yet others will consider aggravating factors.
In the sections Connite quoted, the judge acknowledges mitigating factors - as is also his role.
@elniedunne@_ConnieShaw What about them?
Like all victims of crime, they deserve justice, delivered through due process.
A fair process includes considering aggravating and mitigating factors at the sentencing stage.
There’s nothing “Jesus Christ” about the fact that the judge did so.
Istanbul Bilgi University, the place where I started my academic career as a 24-year old teaching assistant in 1995 and worked for 15 years, was shut down by a presidential decree overnight - without any reason or justification. 20,000 students and 1,000 employees not knowing what to do, where to go. Oh, and the same day the "presidential" courts started the process of shutting down the main opposition party. What a country to live in... #bilgiuniversity #bilgiüniversitesi #turkey #türkiye #democracyallaturca
A university is not a mirror.
Students do not need a better-lit reflection of themselves. They need exposure to people who know things they don’t, see things they miss, and may even be wrong in useful ways.
This judgment should send shockwaves through NHS and beyond. It is to my knowledge the 1st to decide that allowing trans identifying men into women's workplace facilities is in itself discrimination and harassment against women.
First, the University of Sussex allowed Kathleen Stock to be forced out.
Then the Office for Students fined it for alleged breaches of free speech.
Now the High Court has found that the fine was unlawful.
Kathleen Stock (@Docstockk) asks: what are universities actually for?

No matter what I think of the Monarchy, that was actually an excellent speech by King Charles. ..doubt that the people in attendance got the subtle digs were directed at them..did anyone get a camera shot of Trump or Vance's face?
