But also, it urges me to see everyone in this world as my own family.
And in that spirit, I want to share a few words on behalf of my Palestinian family:
من النهر إلى البحر فلسطين ستتحرر
(From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.) 🇵🇸✊
Thank you 🙏🏾
Often I find myself in a (European) airport with between 5 & 10 books in my carry-on, yet feel compelled to buy a book at the poorly stocked bookstore and only read the one I just bought.
Used to feel this way in uni when all the brown kids used to call themselves desi and and the word made it into all the event names, posters and such.
Tamil feels much more like me.
Indian, South Asian are alright I guess but desi feels like exactly what I'm not.
Fun Fact: பகவு in my name comes directly from the first Thirukkural.
ஆதி பகவன் in the Kural refers to the ancestral building block of the universe, where பகவு (பகுதி / பாகம் meaning "part") is personified as male பகவன்.
It could just as easily be பகவி and mean the same thing.

From there, you could take a quick trip to London, Paris, Delhi, Warsaw, Madrid, Lisbon, Vienna, Florence, Dublin, Brussels and Athens all without ever having to leave Ontario.
தமிழ் names are gender-neutral by default.
Some may be traditionally used in gendered forms but they'll always have a gender-neutral root version which can then be gendered the other way if needed.
Except obvious cases like மங்கை or காளை where the meaning intends gender.
@GenePark A lot of minority devs are limited in their scope and budget. That being said some great experiences get through like Venba from 2023. The game follows a Tamil speaking Indian kid growing up in Canada struggling to retain his culture. It was a good short and sweet time.
