Watching Tony Bennett’s news conference and he is honest and genuine on why he wasn’t the right fit for the current state of the game. He’s old school. He embraces players getting compensation but worried about the overall health of college sports going forward. He elevated @UVAMensHoops. His character never changed. Bennett leaves UVA knowing he did it the right way. Bennett said he thought about this decision in the spring but was energized by the new class of Cavaliers. But a fall break trip with his wife Laurel last weekend allowed him to re-evaluate his life’s priorities. And that’s when he knew it was time.
Tony Bennett: "It wasn’t until fall break where Laurel and I went away and just kind of processed what the future would be. And that’s where I came to the realization that I can’t do this. It’s not fair to these guys, to this institution I love so much, to continue on where you know you’re not the right guy for the job."
The Town of Black Mountain is asking folks to hold off on donations for a few weeks.
We are overwhelmed with supplies. Some churches are even having to turn supplies away. It’s a logistics nightmare.
We’ll need help for MONTHS. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
FREE MEALS IN AVL! We are fortunate enough to be able to feed our community from our South Asheville store located at 1829 Hendersonville Road starting TOMORROW, October 3rd.
Beginning at 11:30AM, we will serve FREE HOT MEALS until 5:00PM or until supplies run out each day. We plan to do this daily for at least five days and possibly beyond. Any changes to this schedule will be posted on our social media channels.
Meals will be offered buffet-style, and we hope to serve the people of our community as best as we can during this difficult time. We will have burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, brussels, and various soups. We welcome everyone in the area who can reach the restaurant safely to come and enjoy a warm meal on us.
We also hope to have a general donation button on our main website soon, which will be donated to local charities engaged in long term relief.
Please come join us or help us share the word!
@andrewzimmern Chef I love ya! But we need your help in Western NC! @WCKitchen is already there in Asheville but places like Clyde, Candler, and Canton that were absolutely wiped out need assistance just to survive

This map is a small attempt to shed some light on Richmond's queer history. From influential rocker Sister Rosetta Tharpe to Hollywood’s first openly gay star, these people should have a higher profile in our collective conscience @StyleWeekly https://t.co/nPhVmFGrBs
