El incendio en Brieva (Segovia), declarado nivel 2, han sido desalojados ya 8 núcleos urbanos, una granja escuela de Santo Domingo de Pirón.

El incendio ha afectado a varias viviendas de las localidades de Tenzuela y Aldeasaz.

Se decreta el confinamiento de la Localidad de Pelayos del Arroyo.

Aunque parece que mejoran las condiciones meteorológicas el incendio aún no está controlado.

Even though most Members of the European Parliament have voted to REJECT Chat Control, we have not been able to reach the absolute majority that was needed (361 Members).

The EU is now rushing through a law that lets providers like WhatsApp/Gmail scan everyone's private messages, and the way they're doing it should worry you even more than the law itself

The law is Chat Control 1.0: it was a "temporary" measure to let providers like WhatsApp and Gmail voluntarily scan everyone's private messages and photos, no suspicion required. Parliament killed it 311-228 in March and it expired in April.

On July 2 the Council repackaged essentially the same text as a "new" proposal. The procedure was reopened days before summer recess, a move diplomats called unprecedented. One MEP tried to challenge it in plenary and had his mic cut after 60 seconds.

Now the vote lands Thursday, the last day before vacation, and blocking it requires 361 votes, an absolute majority of all MEPs (not just those present). Fall short and the scanning regime is automatically reinstated. Absences and abstentions effectively count as votes for the law

A law the elected chamber rejected can still pass. You just change the question until the default answer is yes

As a European, this makes me sad and worried. The direction of travel is surveillance by default across everything from finances to messages. Europe is the continent that invented democracy and then spent most of the 20th century paying, in blood, to defeat two totalitarian systems built on surveilling their own citizens. Now, under the auspices of "protecting children", it's reassembling their very same toolkit with far better technology. We of all people should know where this road goes

The European Union is turning into an anti-democratic surveillance apparatus.

In March, the European Parliament REJECTED the extension of “Chat Control.”

So what did Brussels do?

While everybody is distracted from the World Cup, they furtively brought it back through a rarely used procedure and are trying again.

The goal is to allow private communications to be scanned under a derogation from normal ePrivacy protections.

They’ll have access to your private messages and your photos. And, as always, mass surveillance is being sold to you under the banner of “safety.”

The EU bureaucrats do not trust you.

They urgently want the infrastructure to surveil you.

And when its own Parliament votes the wrong way, the bureaucratic and anti-democratic machine simply finds another procedure and tries again.

The European Union is not protecting democracy.

It is becoming its enemy. And almost all CONSERVATIVES members of the parliament voted in favor of this Orwellian plan.

And now imagine a combination of governmental surveillance AND Palantir. SCARY!!!!

On Thursday, the European Parliament votes on Chat Control 1 (the voluntary scanning, not the mandatory scanning, called Chat Control 2). Again.

The Parliament has already voted against Chat Control 1. Two times. But the Council of Ministers and the Parliament President refuse to accept it.

Now, the Council has demanded an urgent procedure. This is a procedure that is meant to be used for new legislative proposals, not proposals that the Parliament has already rejected. An urgent procedure requires an absolute majority to be rejected (361 out of the Parliament's 720 members). This will be difficult to reach, since those who abstain from voting are counted as a yes-vote in an urgent procedure. By scheduling the vote during the summer, they are making it even harder to reach those 361 no-votes. This is downright dirty tactic by the Council and the President of the European Parliament.

This is worth taking seriously, and worth being precise about. The direction of EU internet regulation is no longer speculative, it is scheduled. A bloc-wide social media ban is expected to be proposed in September. Chat Control, the plan to scan private messages before they are even encrypted, remains live with no final agreement yet. And VPNs, the main tool people use to stay private, are being openly described by EU bodies as a loophole that needs closing. Each of these arrives with its own reasonable-sounding justification. The combined effect is an internet where you are identified by default and monitored by design. The vagueness is the strategy. Naming exactly what is coming is how it gets stopped.

The EU's Chat Control fight just reignited, and critics warn the worst case is back on the table: mass scanning of private messages, detection orders without a judicial warrant, and the end of anonymous communication through forced age verification.

Former MEP Patrick Breyer is warning of what he calls a "double attack" on encrypted messaging: EU government envoys met Friday to try to revive lapsed rules allowing "voluntary" scanning of private chats, and Monday June 29 brings the final trilogue on the permanent Child Sexual Abuse Regulation (Chat Control 2.0).

Parliament rejected extending the old scanning rules in March and they expired in April. Breyer claims EP President Roberta Metsola is maneuvering to force another vote, which Politico has also reported. Backers, including the Commission, call it child protection.
