May is Mental Health Awareness Month. So I want to use this opportunity to spread awareness. Everyone struggles with Mental Health at some point. Even the best athletes in the world:
Michael Phelps – The most decorated Olympian of all time struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, particularly after the 2012 Olympics.
Serena Williams – The tennis legend experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter in 2017.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – Before his Hollywood career, Johnson faced severe depression after injuries ended his football career.
Simone Biles – During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles withdrew from several events to prioritize her mental well-being
Val Whiting – A 2x National Champion and Stanford Legend, I would avoid eye contact with my WNBA coach so I wouldn’t have to go in.
Kevin Love - An NBA champion and Timberwolves legend- experienced panic attacks during a game and went on to say, “Depression doesn’t care who you are.”
These are massive names.
People you wouldn’t expect to struggle with mental health, but they were.
I’m doing this to show you that you’re not alone. And nothing is wrong with you.
Life has its ups and downs, but trying to go through it by yourself is where people get hurt.
Find someone you can talk to and start with small wins.
You will get through it.
Just like I did.
♻️Repost this to help me get this message out to the world. Too many people still think they’re alone in this battle.
@KitchenAidUSA very disappointed with your products so far. Our home has all new kitchenaid appliances. 1 year later, microwave panel broke, and dishwasher is leaking and damaging new flooring! Spending hours on phone got no answers from cust. service. No longer a reliable brand!
“Your code is always the source of truth for the view.” #SwiftUI finally answered my wish and silence all the critics to storyboard. Thanks for answering my prayers #Apple god 🙏 #wwdc2019
With the #Raptors about to hit the global stage, I’m going to share a story about what makes Toronto, and Canada, so special. It’s about a guy you’re going to be seeing a whole lot of.
A Thread.
[Hint: It's about racism, sports, and why you'll end up cheering for 🍁]
Won't make it to #WWDC19 this year? Join me at @tryswiftnyc to hear about the latest and meet iOS Devs from all over the world in September. DM me for a super special discount code 🐥🗽🎉 https://t.co/2hBfuddw01 #wwdc#wwdc19#swiftlang#iosdev
It's time to try something brand new! 😀
Introducing Swift Clips 🎬
They're like Swift Tips, but in video form! 🚀
Quick, 90 second videos about useful Swift & iOS development techniques, starting with separation of concerns using protocols! 👍
Let me know what you think 😊
@qcoding Agreed @qcoding. I don’t foresee using the class version much. Although I can totally see accidentally overwriting the wrong setup method and spending hours trying to track down. The “class” keyword is quite subtle.
Wow, didn’t catch the big difference between setup() “class” method and setup() “instance” method in XCTestCase! The former is called only once, setting up the overall initial state of the class. The latter is called before each test method. https://t.co/y8jq0a1NZb #iOS#TDD
My top tips for productive code reviews:
👍 Give praise, not only improvement suggestions.
🤖 Automate all sorts of style checks.
🤝 Agree with the team before making big changes.
🤔 Ask for clarification, rather than saying something is wrong.
✅ Use tests to show your intent.
@Tyler_Moeller Great article Tyler! I think one thing I had to keep reminding myself before able to switch my mindset towards unit testing is that in test code, verbosity has higher importance then clean/well-designed production code. This article captured the idea very well.
Had so much fun hacking with #ARKit during @ExpediaEng’s xTech hackathon week! Scanning and recognizing 3D objects was way easier then I thought. Kudos for Apple for making it easy and fun.
