In times like these, we’re reminded of how important climate resilience has become for communities everywhere.
As Princess Zahra has noted, after such disasters, displacement often leads to what we now understand as climate refugees — a reality we must face with compassion and long-term support.
AKDN’s strength lies in its ability to bring together health, education, civil society, and climate action, so that recovery is not only possible, but sustainable.
Prayers are with all those affected!
In response to devastating floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral and other mountain communities in Pakistan, AKDN is delivering urgent relief and supporting recovery.

In moments like these, we’re reminded why climate resilience matters. As Princess Zahra has said, disasters don’t just displace people — they create climate refugees.
Prayers for the affected families, and hope for a more resilient future. 🌍💚

Inspiring to see Susan forging her own path in rural Uganda — learning welding and metal fabrication through AKF’s support.
In 2024 alone, the Aga Khan Foundation:
✅ Supported 1.1 million people with job training and enterprise support — 55% were women
✅ Reached 173,888 people with access to financial services
✅ Enabled 17,649 youth to access employable skills training and support — 64% were female

Such powerful words from Prince Aly Muhammad #AgaKhan ❤️
"This year began in an incredibly difficult way, We lost our 49th Imam, Mawlana Shah Karim. I lost my father. We did not, however, lose his nur (light) or the guidance of the Imamat"
"Our Jamat speaks every language, works in every trade, studies every field, competes in every sport, and creates all forms of art. From West to East, North to South, we are truly global. We’re truly diverse"
#PrinceAlyMuhammad #Ismaili #GlobalJamat
In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the GE Festival 2025, Prince Aly Muhammad said that Mawlana Shah Karim’s vision for Global Encounters—celebrating a diverse, united international Jamat—had been brought to life.

So let’s get this straight:
You detain activists in international waters (illegal), force them to watch your version of events (one-sided, coercive), and when they walk out, you accuse them of “turning a blind eye”?
That’s not truth-seeking — that’s propaganda under duress.
Maybe it’s not that they can’t see the truth.
Maybe they’ve just seen too much already.

The Aga Khan Foundation (@AKF_Global) working to protect and restore 100,000 hectares of coastal ecosystems and strengthen the livelihoods of millions of people in India, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan and Tanzania.
His Highness the Aga Khan said, "We have a shared responsibility to care for our oceans, which cover three quarters of the Earth's surface. As part of the fight against climate change, our institutions are helping to ensure the protection of these precious natural resources." 💚

@IsraelMFA Ah yes, imagine intercepting a peaceful vessel in international waters, detaining civilians, handing out sandwiches—and calling it a wrap like it’s a theatre production #FreePalestine
Ah yes, the country that blocks humanitarian aid, bombs refugee camps, and controls access to Gaza still gets to lecture others on "real humanitarian channels." Incredible.
Maybe if people stopped “posing” and started actually delivering food, medicine, and fuel without interference, we wouldn’t need yachts or hashtags.
But hey—when you control the borders, the sea, the air, and the narrative, I guess you get to call international law a “media stunt.”

Two centuries ago, Fath-Ali Shah Qajar granted the title “Aga Khan” to the 46th Ismaili Imam, Hasan Ali Shah in 1818. Today, Mawlana Hazar Imam, Aga Khan V, stood before his portrait in Qatar — a powerful moment where history, legacy, and leadership converge
#AgaKhan#Ismaili
Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan V was today named the 50th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, following the unsealing of the Will of his late father, Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, who died in Lisbon, Portugal yesterday, aged 88.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V is a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) through his daughter, Hazrat Bibi Fatima, and the Prophet’s cousin and son-in-law, Hazrat Ali, the fourth Rightly Guided Caliph of Islam and the first Shia Imam.
Throughout their 1,400 year history, the Ismailis have been led by a living, hereditary Imam. The Ismailis live in over 35 countries and number approximately 12 to 15 million.
His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family.
The announcement of his designated successor will follow.
Aga Khan IV established the Aga Khan Foundation in 1967 to bring together human, financial and technical resources to address the challenges faced by the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world. The Foundation operates in 18 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
The management, staff and volunteers of the Aga Khan Foundation offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world.
